I agree. I sure missed that in Pittsburgh this year.

I was in Pittsburgh too and I thought that there would be another song at the end. It was kind of weird how it ended.

No. I like the song but wouldn't mind if he skipped it altogether. Nothing will compare to hearing "Nautical Wheelers" as the final encore in Charlotte. Woo hoo!! :D

I like BEG. Not just because its a good song that Jimmy and the CRB have made their own, but because the band appears to enjoy playing it. it allows a couple Coral Reefers that don't normally get a chance to show off a little and it is a good energy song for the crowd.

Final encore...?

Maybe not, but I really liked it ending the first set going into intermission.
I agree. I like BEG (both the BNer and the song  ). It's got loads of energy, and I love Ralph's solo.

But I really, REALLY don't like it as a final encore.... I very much prefer a slow(er) final encore, and it *really* bugs me to have a cover closing the show.

A few of my favorite final encores:

City of New Orleans, Wrigley, Sep 2005. This one wins, hands down.
Lovely Cruise, Maui Jan 2004
Stories We Could Tell, Honolulu, Jan 2004
Tonight I Just Need My Guitar, Tampa, Feb 2003
He Went to Paris, Great Woods, Jun 2005
Defying Gravity, Fenway, Sep 2004
I can not argue with this list, even know city of new orleans is a Goodman song, it was something jimmy had to do. I also thought the Louie Armstrong cover he did right after Katrina was fitting and a perfect ending. I would love to see him switch up his encores a little more, maybe throw some 12 volt man in there once in a while.
I contradicted myself pretty badly, didn't I? :o

Complain about covers, then name a cover as my favorite encore..... Oh, well, there's an exception to every rule, and this is mine.... City of New Orleans at Wrigley was just amazing.....
Thanks for bringing this back to the top. I had missed seeing it before.

Seems a lot of Jimmy's final encores are cover songs of things he recorded like Defying Gravity and Stories We Could Tell.

The thing that I object to about BEG is not that it is played at the concert. So many people really get into the dancing in the aisles during BEG. I just don't like it as the final encore. I didn't like Glory Days as an encore either. I like for Jimmy to sing a slow, meaningful ballad...like Defying Gravity, He Went to Paris, Lovely Cruise.

Can we hope for The Night I Painted the Sky on Saturday?

I have to agree. I don't like BEG as the closer either....I do like the song, but closers usually are a pretty deep song for Jimmy....So bring on tonight i just need my guitar for the closer!!!!!
