What do you love.......

Post by pbans »

....about where you live?

I was sitting out on the back patio a little while ago and was awestruck by the mountains....it's been pretty rainy so they are just the deepest green with a little bit of snow still on top....sun just heading away from them, so the light was perfect.....and I thought about how much I really love living here....being just a fifteen minute drive from the mountains and a gorgeous lake.....half hour from the desert....a few hours from great sand dunes....

What's great about where you live?

The LIE

Minimal snowstorms that paralyze the Island

Property taxes

High Gas $$

The General Cost of Living

Amazing politicians

the Knic- oh you said things that I love about where I live.

Beaches just a half hour away

The Greatest City in the World an hour away

No major threat of natural disasters (knock on wood)

Great friends

The great golf (especially Bethpage)

Warm Summers

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

The Rocky Mountains, the low humidity, the 300+ days a year of sun, the blue skies, the fun of the 'big city'. :D

It's Australia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for Newcastle ....

Beach around the corner
Lake not that far away
Mountains just over yonder

I can live right in the yuppie part of town and afford it!

Low crime rate

No peak hour traffic

Go to the mall and will always know someone

the Knights!

We think we are better than any other place in Australia or the world! :P

I forgot about the low humidity.....I love that, too....I swear I can't breathe when we go to places with high humidity....I am a desert girl.

the ocean, the boardwalk, crabbing in the back bays, ten degrees cooler then the mainland, seeing kids faces when they're walking down the boards eating cotton candy, great coffee shops, great church, friends, Smitty's Clam Bar, no bugs, sunrise and Ove's donuts, concerts on the beach...
My new love is tennis, across from my house they just finished new beautiful courts. I'm no good but I'm loving playing. That's what happens from watching the French Open.

Oh yeah, I have a plethora of nice courts near my house, so I get to play a lot. :D

First, really cool idea for a thread!

I love living in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I’m an hour from Lake Tahoe and Sacramento and only 2 hours from San Francisco. I’ve discovered some of the best places to view wildflowers in the summer and fall color in the fall, and I know there’s thousands of places I haven’t yet seen. I love the quaintness of a small town, even the ol’ boy network of local politics, the folks at the grocery store, the post office and most coffee shops know you by name. I love the county fair and our apple harvest festival and all the fine wineries in our area. We even have our own Jimmy Buffett tribute band, Garrett Wilkins and the Parrott Heads!

I know this will sound corny and mushy coming from me-but I have to be honest.

I like it because it's home.
It's where I was born.
My parents are here.
Memories of a VERY happy childhood are here.
It's home.
