buying sunglasses without trying them on
could you do this? My one son has a deal with his work to get a brand of glasses half price. I only have a day to turn in the order. Won't really have a chance to find a store to try them on. They get ordered thru the rep. I'm going to do it but I'm not so sure how it will work out.[/list]

I can't. I have a VERY difficult time buying sunglasses, it's hard to get them small enough. I just ordered an identical replacement pair for a pair I lost, and they fit completely different.
You can take them to an optician for some adjustments.
I also don't think I'd buy anything that I hadn't tried on before. What if they look terrible? Even at half price they aren't worth the money if end up not wearing them.

I can't imagine going without sunglasses.buffettbride wrote:i rarely wear sunglasses because i'm always wearing my regular eyeglasses and i have a horrible time with contacts.
i don't think i could pick out any glasses without trying them on first.
How about the kind that snap over your regular lenses? That's what I had when I wore glasses rather than contacts.

If I had prescription glasses I'd go with the magnetic sunglasses. I've seen people with them and they are cool. You just put the sunglasses over your regular frames with magnet.
I have a prescription pair of reading sunglasses for on the beach. I always wear sunglasses and have like five pairs.

I can't do that, the magnet might interfere with the signals coming through my tin foil hat.OceanCityGirl wrote:If I had prescription glasses I'd go with the magnetic sunglasses. I've seen people with them and they are cool. You just put the sunglasses over your regular frames with magnet.

how much do you all pay for them. Mr OC is a super cheap sunglass guy. He loses them, breaks them, leaves them on jobs, etc. So he always buys dollar store sunglasses. We felt bad and got him a better pair a few weeks ago. Already broken.
I like to pay for them and take really good care of them. Cheap sunglasses bother my nose and eyes. Now I don't need big bucks ones, just around $25. Sometimes I"ll buy a really good pair, $100. But I get psycho about them. If they were ruined I'd be crushed at that cost.

Never seen the magnet ones. Mine just had little clips to fit right over the frames of my glasses and they were very secure. I'd worry about the magnet kinds...either they wouldn't be strong enough or they'd be too strong and I'd be sucked into anything metal I walked by.

The magnet ones are great! The magnet is just off to the side, and snaps onto the other magnet, just at the area where the hinge of the temple where it bends. Real secure, and I've not been stuck to anything else yet.Brown Eyed Girl wrote:Never seen the magnet ones. The magnet ones rock. I almost bought a pair the last time I got new glasses. I tend to lose stuff, so I'd be afraid of that, but being able to wear sunglasses regularly would be awesome.SMLCHNG wrote:The magnet ones are great! No. As my husband pointed out when I was trying to find sunglasses a few years ago, I have a fat head, so my choices are limited. I finally found one pair of Oakleys that fit me. I've had them for years at this point. Repaired them several times, and replaced the lenses once, but they are rock solid, and i hope to have them for many more years.
Hubby buys sunglasses about once every two months since they either get left somewhere, the dog eats them, or they just get broken.

I get all my sunglasses at the Dollar Store for $3/pair. When I find a style I like, I buy every pair they have.buffettbride wrote:I think Matt is on his 8th pair of sunglasses this year.sy wrote:

I think that's a good plan. 'Cause Matt buys a pair he likes at the gas station and then can't find another pair like them. Then he p***, moans, and groans when he doesn't have sunglasses to wear.rednekkPH wrote:I get all my sunglasses at the Dollar Store for $3/pair. I don't feel bad for him 'cause I drive to work every day facing the sun without sunglasses and have for about 10 years.
