as person, he probably is down to earth. I have never had the occasion to speak with him.

as a guitarist, his style is not that of Steve Vai, Chuck Berry, or other "get down and play from the gut" guitarists. He is more a thinking-guitarist, technical and precise. I've seen him play a couple gigs solo (or relatively solo), and while he is good, he doesn't really inspire a lot of "d*m, this is was incredible' feelings in me)

I've got to agree with Buffett Phan on this...I would love to see Peter "showcased" by singing one of his songs during the JB concerts as Mac gets to do from time to time. I have seen PMG concerts when there are moments when you can't believe all those beautiful sounds are coming from one guitar!!! I have had to remember to "close my mouth as it was hanging open with amazement"!!! Incredible indeed as he easily changes from blues ( BB's got the Blues) to jazz (Cool Blue Swing) and rock and roll (A Little too Happy, All the Tea in China) and more.

I did notice that one of his songs was playing after the Charlotte JB concert as we walked out...they featured "Walking to the Sun" from Music Box. Nice touch!!!

With that said, I definately have enjoyed hearing Jake play...he is amazing too! I think JB shows his musical genius by putting these great musicians together in the CRB. I have appreciation and admiration for all of the band members and try to see them individually when they tour apart from JB.

It's hard for me to imagine anyone seeing Peter solo and thinking he doesn't "get down" and "play from the gut." Everybody is different......

I just wish there was a way Jimmy could showcase Peter the way he is doing Jake......Peter is VERY talented and would amaze you on any string instrument including the mandolin. I don't mean to take anything away from Jake (he's awesome), but Peter really could probably teach him a few things.
Peter has been in the forefront on this tour by providing a nice guitar intro to Desperation Samba, among other little guitar solos here and there....

In fact, the first Irvine show had a lead in by both Peter and Jake, it's pretty sweet :)
Peter and Jake played their duet intro to Desperation Samba at the Charlotte show, as well.....It totally blew me away and is not something I'll soon forget. I looked around me at the show during that intro and half the people were standing perfectly still with their eyes wide and mouths hanging open. Jimmy introduced it as the "cultural" part of the show.

he plays, but his style, to me, lacks meat and depth. When he plays "Livin' in the USA" and does a duckwalk across the stage, that opinion will change.

We went to a Jake concert last night in a very small coffee shop venue in Carson City, NV - what a thrill! I highly recommend his concerts!

I had never heard of Jake before seeing him at the Cinci concert. Besides Jimmy, he was the highlight of the concert in my opinion. I'm a big Mac fan and I love watching Utley play, but Jake really added a ton of energy to the whole thing. That "Stairway to Heaven" into to Desperation Samba he did was unreal. His talent is unbelievable, but his energy on stage makes him even more valuable. Way to go Jake!

I was really shocked that he was in Carson City. By the way, we asked him & thought he wouldn't be with Jimmy in Vegas in Oct. :(
