Now, I would just like to point out that this topic is displaying a distinct tendency to become SILLY. Now, nobody likes a good laugh more than I do... except, perhaps my wife... and some of her friends. Oh, yes, and Captain Johnson. Come to think of it, most people like a good laugh more than I do, but that's beside the point! I'm warning this post NOT to get SILLY again! Right!

Nope. This is exactly where this thread should have gone. I just hope my wife understands and appreciates the show that I am taking her to see tonight ... AND that she properly thanks me for a wonderful evening out (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more).

Spamalot. Brilliant. By far the biggest applause and audience recognition cheer came early in Act I when the French Castle scene occurred. They left out some scenes (no witch burning!) but most of the good stuff remains, plus enough surprises for longtime Pythonheads to see and hear something new. You can keep your Andrew Lloyd Webber and CATS (bored out of my mine at that one). Give me Eric Idle and Spamalot! Hmmmm. Maybe Jimmy could cover "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life"?
And for the record ..... my wife loved it! (Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more).

One thing I can't stand, it's people groveling.
And don't apologize. Every time I try to talk to someone it's 'sorry
this' and 'forgive me that' and 'I'm not worthy'.
It's like those bloody Psalms, they're SO depressing

Monty Python is great, and I have wanted to see this since I first heard about it.
You and me both, Jen. Was sorry I missed Spamalot (and Wicked) while I was recuperating in LA for 6 mos.
Heck, I went on a date once where we constantly were throwing lines from Holy Grail back and forth and laughing ourselves sick. Not sure anyone else in the bar was nearly as amused as we were...but we had fun. We drove our friends nuts whenever we were with them.
somehow Python humor always seems to come up in conversations...

No kidding...they often came up in our rehearsals for our Wildlife Theater shows and we'd go so off script we'd end up in a heap on the ground. Working with live animals (especially parrots) makes for great ad libbing...especially with our bunch. And you should have heard our "bring out your dead" scene when we discovered that the box turtle wasn't "sleeping"...he'd croaked between shows! Oh geez...I'm LOL right now...what memories.
We wrote a whole show based on a Buffett/Islands of Life Theme. I came out singing Volcano with my tailgate gear...it was a riot.
