Hey Kat, happy summer to you as well. As you said I have seen Erik quite a few times....hahaha thats a joke I would guess at least 40 different shows. His new cd is rediculously good. My brother in law and I took a couple of Erik's songs down to a radio station in Merced and he is competing in a contest supposedly to be held on July 20 at Merced Fairgrounds. I am also going to try and get him to play at the Twin River Saloon again. He would have to play on Friday the 21st and then fly back out to play in Tennessee. I will keep you informed.

I cant stop listening to the new cd

early favorites are...A Hard Lesson, and Hurricanes, Broken planes.....,

I am really starting to love little things as well......Aw hell, the whold damn cd is AWESOME!!!!

The old me would but after being burnt a few times in the past I like to sample a few tracks via the net before buying, especially with a lot of "trop rock" artists who can have a karaoke sound (Sunny Jim/Brent Burns).
I found samples on amazon of an older cd of his called "Tales From The Whaleshark" but it did not sound too hot to me, mainly production-wise.
That does not mean that I would not like the new one.
Hopefully samples of the new one will be online soon.

Yes, "Tales" was the first CD. The production gets a little better. The new CD actually has more of a band-type sound.

If there are a couple songs you want to hear, let me know and I'll burn a couple for you.

He's working on that. Actually, if anyone has experience in that area, he could use the help. He did put out a request on his website.

SOAB...I guarantee you won't be disappointed. I have all 4 CDs and listen to them constantly. And The Stories Get Longer probably gets the most play time but the new one is edging up pretty close. And the Live CD is just a damn good time. And I just have too many favorite songs to list. It might be easier to list the ones I like least. Hmmm....that list is empty.

My flip flop siggy line is from "Moonlight In Lahaina"...which is a song I will always associate with Erik's visit here in May when it was unbelievably cold.

OH NO

THat is terrible that you wont be around when Erik comes to town. It is a distinct possibility that he may not have enough time to squeeze in a show here. He wont have equipment or anything so who knows!!

Yes Eriks first cd Tales from the Whaleshark has some mixing issues. But the songwriting is still fantastic on it and it is still some folks around here's favorite cd. I think that the new cd will be everyones favorite Whaleshark cd as it is mixed well and has some fantastic musicians playing with Erik.

BEG....Moonlight in Lahaina is probably still my favorie Pietsch song.

"I'd rather live in a sand castle than an igloo" is a pretty good line too.

Cant say enough about Erik and his music. I have listened to a lot of other artists over the years and very few ave kept my interest as long as the Whaleshark. I cant say it enough......wonderful songwriting/storytelling. THe cool thing about Eriks songs is that he lives them!!

And the cooler thing is that he really does consider all of us to be "all the friends he's known". :D

I laughed when he talked (on his website) about going to Alaska and just wearing all his clothes at once so he won't be cold. It can't be any colder than it was Memorial Day weekend, could it? :o

And he reaaaaaallllllly needs to come back here later in the summer...when he can enjoy himself instead of jetting in and out. :-?

Dont worry

Erik will definitely be back to Nor. Cal playing here in Early October. Probably Twin Rivers, a couple of parties and one other bar-grill type establishment.

Your right he does treat us all like friends!!

Would this have anything to do with the famous "blanket incident"?

And I can't wait now to hear him play live !
We can add him to our favorite artist list at our club: Jimmy , Jack Mosely and now the Whaleshark Erik. :D :D :D

Mollie will be at home with Nana. Jim, however, will be there. He's almost 16. He KNOWS he will hear things his whole life he had BETTER NOT say. The "f" word is not something I want to hear him say but with music today, Erik is mild in comparison and Jim and I are both okay with it. I will not be allowing Mollie tho. I was thinking about it at first but I'd rather a "Grown Up" night. I have plenty of times for "Mommy" nights!

Mollie LOVES Jack Mosley tho!

Whaleshark at Twin Rivers Saloon

Talked with Erik tonight and it is confirmed that he will be playing at Twin Rivers on Friday July 21 at Twin River Saloon in Modesto Ca. The last show he played there ROCKED!!!! It was probably the best show I have wver seen of the Whaleshark. Everyone there had a great time and Erik played one and a half hours longer than scheduled because we all kept cheering him on to play more and more music!! He also will be playing at the Merced County Fair on Thursday July 20. Anyone who wants info on either event shoot me a private message and we'll get you hooked up!
