Microsoft and WGA

Has anyone encountered any problems since this came about or had problems with their computer since installing it?
For those who don't know what it does, it "allegedly provides MS with a verification you are using a legitmate version of Windows. Ok that is reasonable enough.
What MS DID NOT tell you is that it would "phone home" everytime you booted up in the morning. ( I don't know it that means once a day or what.
They clearly violated the privacy as they told no one it would do this and it acts much like spyware.
MS apparently also violated, the use of the important update feature.
I don't mind them validating their product, but WHY do it at least once everyday?
Supposedly it has now been changed to checking once every 14 days. How many times do they need to validate it? Like I am going to change it?
Someone is suing over it. The whole thing sounds like the grounds for a class action suit.
Here are a couple of links about the WGA. There are more out there.
