I thought GLUTTONYwas a sin.
Falwell is getting so fat it looks like his neck is going to explode from rupture from supporting so many chins.
Whatever happened to not casting stones against others?
Falwell = Big Fat Hypocrite. I wonder if his private jet paid for by his sheep has to have extra strong shocks to take the weight of landing with his 400 lb body aboard.

I don't want to live on that kind of island
No, I don't want to swim in a roped off sea.
Too much for me, too much for me
I've got to be where the wind and the water are free.

Sadly, it's been proven time and time again that the fire and brimstone preachers have a following. And they can raise cash by the sackful. Take a hard look at Falwell and Robertson -- they are practically industries unto themselves.
When we think about Moslems having, how can I say this nicely ... "antisocial attitudes" ... because of anti-Western outbursts from their radicals, we often overlook the small town preachers that preach that Moslems, Jews, whatever the minority of the week is, isn't going to Heaven and should be condemned. We have some seriously radical Christian preachers out there that would give the radical Moslems a run for their money. Falwell and Robertson are just the cleaned up versions of those small town preachers and they are selling a message that is popular in a lot of circles. Which I personally think is very sad.

Isn't that what The Lord said to the alligators when the Miami 'burbs started to intrude on the Everglades?

I see less of a problem with gators eating tourists and folks conned by developers into buying a house on a water hazard in a swamp, than I do with a mere human (no matter how many times he's had breakfast with the President or had the head of the RNCC give him a h&^%job) thinking that an omnipotent, omniscient being needs any help from mortal man..PirateJohn wrote:RinglingRingling wrote:

Re: Jerry Falwell says.....
That jerk came to preach/talk at the Seminary in my town a year or so ago. You'd have thought the second coming of their christ was upon us.
Shouldn't surprise me, this is also the seminary/bible college that recently had a male student arrested for molesting an 11 year old boy, and their only comment, when it was found out that they would allow him to remain a student while on bond, was 'He isn't accused of molesting the children of any church members.'
Yeah.....wonderful isn't it?

I don't have any problems with a bride wearing white if she's not "pure" or whatever. I see white as more of a tradition thing, not necessarity a purity (or lack thereof) thing.RinglingRingling wrote:But please, the bride wearing a pure white gown when your 3 month old child is sitting with the grandparents in the front row? Best of my knowledge, there's only been one "immaculate conception" and I doubt this one was it...
But I'm sick of the celebrity baby crap everywhere.... you can't even watch a normal newscast anymore without some mention of some Hollywood who's-doing-who-and-having-their-baby "news". Save that crap for people who want to watch The Insider or Entertainment Tonight....

Somewhere along the way, some religious nut probably decided a white dress was a symbol of purity.
White wedding dresses were actually symbols of wealth because in the old, old, olden days (even before Larry was born), few people could afford to clean a "light" colored dress and most wedding dresses for common folk were brown or black.
I wore a white dress at my wedding and I was the out-of-wedlock mother of two.
So there.
I still want to kick Jerry Falwell in the nuts.

there is a slight difference in that you had been married previously.buffettbride wrote:Somewhere along the way, some religious nut probably decided a white dress was a symbol of purity.

In my book, wearing a pure white dress on your first wedding day with your infant son sitting in the front row says, "I think you're a moron, gimme presents".

Well ... I gotta sorta disagree with you there Mon. In my book I don't particularly care what anyone does at their wedding as long as it makes them and their family happy.
Of course, I was the guy that had the pianist sneak in WDWGDAS during my 2nd wedding ... also had to calm down the minister, who was a helluva lot more nervous about doing the ceremony than I was about getting married. Go figure.

So, you are saying that people (because your not only including women that have had a child before marriage. now are you?) that have weddings to celebrate their marriage are just doing it for the gifts and if you don't have a child, you aren't? What does any of that have to do with the color of a wedding dress?RinglingRingling wrote:In my book, wearing a pure white dress on your first wedding day with your infant son sitting in the front row says, "I think you're a moron, gimme presents".
Would you feel differently if the bride wore a different color?
I wore red to my wedding...and not a child in sight. What does that make me?
