I can't help but wonder . . .
What color would Jimmy Buffett wear . . .

I am saying this:Soraya wrote:So, you are saying that people (because your not only including women that have had a child before marriage. now are you?) that have weddings to celebrate their marriage are just doing it for the gifts and if you don't have a child, you aren't? What does any of that have to do with the color of a wedding dress?RinglingRingling wrote:In my book, wearing a pure white dress on your first wedding day with your infant son sitting in the front row says, "I think you're a moron, gimme presents".
Would you feel differently if the bride wore a different color?
I wore red to my wedding...and not a child in sight. What does that make me?
fine. Your mileage and mine may vary. and no. I won't.buffettbride wrote:*buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*RinglingRingling wrote:there is a slight difference in that you had been married previously.buffettbride wrote:Somewhere along the way, some religious nut probably decided a white dress was a symbol of purity.
White wedding dresses were actually symbols of wealth because in the old, old, olden days (even before Larry was born), few people could afford to clean a "light" colored dress and most wedding dresses for common folk were brown or black.
I wore a white dress at my wedding and I was the out-of-wedlock mother of two.
So there.
I still want to kick Jerry Falwell in the nuts.
In my book, wearing a pure white dress on your first wedding day with your infant son sitting in the front row says, "I think you're a moron, gimme presents".
try again.
before i married my husband, i had never been married before.
my first and only wedding day, i held my son in my arms at the "altar".
bite me R2.
I'm so glad I didn't invite such a closed-minded, retard such as yourself to my wedding.RinglingRingling wrote:I am saying this:Soraya wrote:So, you are saying that people (because your not only including women that have had a child before marriage. now are you?) that have weddings to celebrate their marriage are just doing it for the gifts and if you don't have a child, you aren't? a) pure white was traditionally has been connected with virginity at the time of marriage. Certainly there were other factors as well, but the connection was white=chaste.
b) pure white, with kid in front row is, in my mind, a lot like the bride saying, "I know you see the kid, I know you see the white dress, I don't think you are bright enough to see the disconnect. And, since you are such a moron, I'll gladly take you for a toaster or a fondue set even tho I just insulted your intelligence"
c) weddings are NOT about the presents, they are about consecrating a bond. But, if someone is willing to think they can fool me, they are also probably the type that are in it for the presents. (Think of them as "Yellow Album Fans of the Matrimonial world")
d) Would I feel differently if the bride wore something in a cream or ivory for her first wedding, with a kid in tow.. yes.
e) do I care what colour you wore at your wedding; whether you were chaste, or whether you were not.. No.
that answer everything?

you are assuming I would have come if invited.buffettbride wrote:I'm so glad I didn't invite such a closed-minded, retard such as yourself to my wedding.RinglingRingling wrote:I am saying this:Soraya wrote:So, you are saying that people (because your not only including women that have had a child before marriage. now are you?) that have weddings to celebrate their marriage are just doing it for the gifts and if you don't have a child, you aren't? **snark** You're lucky that is all she did!AdamBomb8 wrote:Actually the reason a bride wears white is because the dishwasher should always match the refrigerator and stove. My wife of course hit me when I told her that joke.

I'm extremely offended on behalf of the above-mentioned group (which includes myself)!!!! Although it IS getting difficult for me to keep track of the various groups and causes on whose behalf I AM offended, I will continue to devote inordinate amounts of my personal time to this and other causes on my list.buffettbride wrote: I'm so glad I didn't invite such a closed-minded, retard such as yourself to my wedding.
and a further clarification of where I stand on this:Indiana Jolly Mon wrote:Damnit BuffettBride you just made me spit diet coke all over my desk! What a great reply!!!! While everyone is entitled to whatever opinion the want, Judgment of people and guessing of intentions should be left to higher powers. Not a slam on R2, just clarifying what others have said.
It's a great joy to offend you. Any time.flyboy55 wrote:I'm extremely offended on behalf of the above-mentioned group (which includes myself)!!!! Thank you and good day!

No. Do you hold men to the same standard? So you let men who have had children before marriage have weddings? Do you demand clothing that makes them as whores as well?RinglingRingling wrote: that answer everything?
I think I am beginning to see from where you get some of the reactions to your posts.Soraya wrote:No. Do you hold men to the same standard? well, for once i agree with her, which doesn't happen all that often.RinglingRingling wrote:I think I am beginning to see from where you get some of the reactions to your posts.Soraya wrote:No. Do you hold men to the same standard? I did not say I am opposed to weddings. I am opposed to having my intelligence insulted as explained earlier.
Since there is no tradition of guys wearing clothing connected with chastity prior to marriage, I haven't given it any thought. (tho I would say that any guy dim enough to wear a powder blue tux to his wedding should be screened for breeding.)

At least I know I am being blunt in my wording to push you buttons. You didn't seem to care you did the same thing to some of the women here on this board....not only that, but your basically called them money-grubbing whores at the same time!RinglingRingling wrote:I think I am beginning to see from where you get some of the reactions to your posts.
It wasn't your intelligence that was being insulted by the bride with a child. It was your judgementalism. You equated a bride wearing white with only getting married for presents. That is just stupid.RinglingRingling wrote:I did not say I am opposed to weddings. I am opposed to having my intelligence insulted as explained earlier.
So, you hold wearing white with chaste brides...and are rude to those that dare not have the same opinion, because you feel they are mocking the sacrament. However, you don't care if a man was a whore-mongering player who has slept with 300 women in the past year and is only getting married to the woman for the gifts....just because they don't normally wear white to a wedding?RinglingRingling wrote:Since there is no tradition of guys wearing clothing connected with chastity prior to marriage, I haven't given it any thought. True enough. We often do disagree.buffettbride wrote:well, for once i agree with her, which doesn't happen all that often.
I doubt it....I really do. I think everyone else is sitting back with popcorn and wondering what Bubba would wear!buffettbride wrote:i just hope we're not the only 2 people who think you seem completely ridiculous with your wedding dress logic.
