Wow, I never even THOUGHT about counting the songs. For me, it's about the experience as a whole. Heck, I couldn't tell you WHAT he played at each show, save for few things that stick out for various reasons.

I'm just glad he's still playing so I don't pay attention to how many songs he does.

dont get me wrong im just glad he's still playing but since this is a discussion i'll contribute.
the problems with this years setlist are:werewolves of london, piece of work, brown eyed girl(at least not as a closer),and the fact that jimmy started this tour by saying there would be a different featured album at every show and that stopped after the 2nd tour date.when u look at the opening night setlist and compare it to anything else thus far,it blows every other show away.at least thats my opinion.

I agree, I am a bit disappointed about the featured album thing, but I'm still happy to go and be part of the party and the show. I've never seen him to Werewolves of London before, so I'll be happy if he does that, even if it's not a great quality cover.
Bottom line, never know when it will be the last show, so I'll enjoy every one that I can as long as it lasts.

I am thrilled that Jimmy is still playing and was really happy that I was able to see the show in Cincinnati this year.
However, at the beginning of the tour, when he was doing the featured album thing, I was really hoping to make it out to the West Coast as he was playing some great gems not heard that often.
In Cincinnati, the show was awesome, mainly because Jimmy was really happy and he sounded great. The atmosphere was great and I had a great time. However, the closest thing he played to a not played too often gem was "Growing Older But Not Up" which I think he always plays in Cinci b/c of the Pete Rose reference. The things that made the show special in my opinion were Fingers Taylor's guest appearance and Jake's amazing playing. Great Peanut Butter Conspiracy was awesome because it seemed like Jimmy was having a blast. Also, Jimmy singing He Went to Paris as the last song with just him on stage was pure magic.
It's hard to judge how wonderful a show is from just listening on Radio Margaritaville. However, a week ago at this time I was considering making the 15 hour drive from W Michigan to see the Jones Beach show. That was until I listened to a lot of the Mohegan show....Mohegan was not all that special. No Jake and a strictly License to Chill? Songs You Know By Heart set list....
I decided to not subject my fiancee to a manic drive to catch the Jones Beach show. I'm glad I didn't go to that show as I thought the set list was kind of tired and it didn't seem like the same magic that happened in Cinci would be happening in NY.
I think I was right....I would have loved to have heard Woman Going Crazy on Caroline St or The Weather is Here, but to make a 30 hour round trip oddysey and be sent home with Brown Eyed Girl...that would have been a little disappointing.
I think I'm going to try and hold out for shows where you know Jimmy will be especially fired up, like Hawaii or the smaller shows like he did at the Fillmore last year.
Just my opinion...

Hey all...
I though Jones Beach was a great show!! Of course most of his songs on the set list will be from SYKBH...they are still great songs (maybe over played) but they are what made him famous.....I though he was full of energy at Jones...I was 7th row at the show and just listened to the show again...he was happy and joking and such.....If you want to see someone run around the stage more, go see Aerosmith or the Stones...

I just do not understand why people seem to say, "Hey at least he is still touring." As if that seems to make up for the poor and repetitive choice of songs played. Closing with Brown Eyed Girl, come on! Are we so in love with Jimmy that we will take whatever he gives us? He's a business man. We are his customers, and we pay good money for his product(s). WE HAVE A RIGHT TO BE DEMANDING, and we have a right to be upset when he short changes us and plays to and for the partyheads.

I just looked at the set-list for Jones Beach and Mohegan. At Jones Beach he played a grand total of 8 songs that he wrote that are not on SYKBH. At Mohegan, 6 songs! And of the 8 and 6 songs, only a couple were great JB songs.

It's been what, about 10 years that he's been playing the "standard" set list? Nobody should be surprised they can predict half the songs he'll play before they walk through the door.
I don't think I have the right to demand anything. What I do have the right to do is spend, or not spend, my money. When I don't think it's worth it anymore, I'll stop spending my money on Buffett.

maybe some of y'all see too many Buffett concerts, or too close together, when you have dissect each and every song he does or doesn't do...
the tailgate is fun, but if that's more fun than the concert itself, I'm not sure I'd go to the concert...in Camden the p/l was $20 and you didn't have to have a ticket to the concert to get in.
I enjoy hearing him do Scarlet Begonias, but other here don't care for it at all...
I think he does what he enjoys doing, and sometimes the set list presents itself just before the show; he does what he feels inspired to do.
He's not going to be able to please all the people all the time, and I'm sure gave up on that a long, long, long, time ago..you can't please everyone, you gotta please yourself..
just seems to me some of y'all get so intense about the set list, it takes the fun out of it

As I recall, Jimmy once said that if it was his choice he would do all ballads. And if you look at the setlists from his other types of shows (i.e. charity events, Margaritaville appearances, and the like) you see a VERY different type of setlist.
I think that people expressing their frustration with the song selection is actually a tribute to JB and his work. It means that there is other material, material that he wrote, that is favored over the covers that he performs. It's not like we want the guy to play an Ozzy Osborne song, we just want him to play his stuff. I'd be completely happy with a setlist that included all of the SYKBH, as long as the rest of it was his material.

never thought about it.... I would have been clueless if someone asked me how many songs he did. imho - isn't that getting a little picky? 26...28...29... who cares as long as you enjoy his music. I honestly have the most fun tailgating and meeting great people.... the show is just a bonus...

It's a privledge and a hell of an evening...just to be a part of it.
