Do you paint the sky?

Post by Tiki Bar »

We don't... but it seems like it would be silly to spend any $ on fireworks, when apparently ALL of our neighbors do! Our skies have been lit up and exploding every night since Friday... And there's so many home ones going off tonight, they distract you from the village's display! People have to spend serious cash! :o

How bout you?

It's illegal to have fireworks in our city limits so we enjoy a huge community blast off.

I was driving through the south suburbs tonight, and for 30 miles there were constant fireworks... probably only 3 of those were town displays... I would rather watch other people blow their money up (plus they have to drive into Indiana to get them, which is throwing more fistfuls of cash into the gas tank)

Same here with the neighbors in my subdivision.
Seems like a lot of them go all out.
It gets to be more and more every year and that's cool as long as they are responsible.
The neighbors from a couple of houses down had a couple go astray when the tube they used to launch the big rockets must have fell over and went off near someones truck and another hit the roof of a house with not so much of a "oops sorry" :x

We do a few roman candles and things like that....the smaller legal ones...and then watch the community display from the front yard.....which was AWESOME this year....for a small town, we do a great fireworks display.....

We had @$$hole neighbors like that at our old house... they would launch them off, hit our vehicles multiple times as we watched them do it, and never so much as a sorry... and somehow we always found used bottle rockets all over our yard...

... needless to say, the used bottle rockets always seemed to end up in the middle of their driveway the next day 8)

I have shot off fireworks the last 2 nights. We always get several people to go in together and end up with $300-$500 worth of stuff to shoot off. The artillery shells are the best! However, I am over fireworks this year. They've been going off since last Thursday in our neighborhood. Last night, they shot them down the street until 1:30 am!!!   If they do it again tonight, I will blow my top! Some people have to get up at 5:30am to go to work!

I don't bother buying or launching my own as I live on a lake and everyone chips in. We had a $5,000 village sponsored show on Saturday night plus some private shows that rivalled that cost themselves. Lotta money around my lake. I don't have it, but there's a lot of it around me nonetheless. My girl, few friends, my dog and some cold ones on the water watching the sky get painted is a nice way to spend a weekend.

Here, too.

I'll just watch the big shows, and hope my neighbors FINALLY stop shooting them off. Although the rain last night was great, it shut 'em up early. :D

Would LOVE to see fireworks every year, but we have this German Shepherd who is petrified of "kaboom" type noises. Last night between the fireworks the neigbors did and the firetrucks (not sure if there was a connection!) he was just short of being a quivering puddle of jello. Oh well, other than THAT, he is very brave!

Women in my presence often feel the same way.

They used to have a pretty nice fireworks display in the village where I live but they haven't had one in a couple of years.

I have a lot of friends that say the same thing about their dog. One had a 120lb golden retriever that shook the entire boat the first year they tried taking him out for fireworks. Didn't do it again.

I on ther other hand have to wake my dog up to let him know the fireworks are going off. He's soooooo mellow. Lays on boat and might raise his head if someone opens a chip bag, but not for the fireworks themselves.

It's illegal in NY, but it doesn't stop people. :-?

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Here too, but my neighbors must make an Indiana run or something...

And it's apparently not a concern with local authorities, because they are big and loud and all around, and there doesn't seem to be any attempt to be discreet! We walked up the street to a big open park for a better vantage point on the village's, and in the park alone were 3 different groups blowing them off... all spread far away from eachother (and away from the many spectators) and taking turns, and seemingly trying to out-do eachother!
