My pregnant brain had to read this twice before I fully understood! I was like they're having a baby AND getting a puppy!?
Congrats Frank! Can't wait to see pictures!

Well, we went to meet the "little" fella yesterday, and unfortunately we had to leave him there. He just wasn't a good match for us and the dog we have now.
However, we did find a rather precious black lab that we think will fit right in with our clan. We are going up at lunchtime today to spend a little bit of time with her and let her and Pepper get acquainted. If all goes well, she'll be on her way to a new home!
As an aside, there are few places on earth more heart-breaking than an animal shelter. If we had a place for them, I swear we would have taken all 100+ of them. It's not the fault of the people who run the place - they are mostly volunteers and do a wonderful job with the meager assets they have to work with. It's just sad to see those loving animals all barking "pick me! pick me!". Moral of the story - if you have room for a pet (or another pet), go on down and save one of these guys. If not, a donation of money or pet supplies to your local shelter will go a long way.

You're a great guy, rednekk. (As your screen name suggests).
You do everything you can, and that's to be commended.
God Bless you, my friend.

Well, I'm back from the SPCA. Look what followed me home:
She's way too skinny, kinda goofy looking, and just about the friendliest pooch you could ask for. I think she'll make a great addition.

No name yet. She was a drop-off, so the shelter didn't know her original name. I figure we'll spend the weekend with her and see what name fits her. For now she's "black dog #2".

Well, so far so good. Took Lady (the dog formerly known as Black Dog #2) camping for the weekend. After a somewhat rocky start, her and Pepper seem to be bonding pretty well. Here's a pic of them snoozing after a long day of playing in the river. Pepper is in the blue, Lady in red.

Pepper isn't crazy about hers, but it's the only way we can tell them apart at a distance.
