I've certainly felt that way before!!
The people who can go out and have a few drinks and a few smokes and only smoke when they want to realllllllly make me mad, 'cause that's how I wish I could do it.

But nope, no smokes for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
I hear ya, it's not so much the drinking for me, its mornings, I really want one when I have coffee. and I drink ALOT of coffee, LOL. But my time has to come soon, because Cameron tells me now "dad ya gotta not smoking, its bad for ya."

Yep. Coffee is on my list of things I cannot have for a long time because for me coffee is not fun if I'm not having cigarettes.
My daughter is emotionally hypersensitive and she just goes into "you're gonna die" meltdown about mommy and daddy smoking. She's been very proud of mommy and daddy the last few weeks.
Although I didn't have a drink last night, we went to our neighbor's house and he smokes. I had my sunflower seeds in tow, and did just fine.
The hardest part of the day for me, I've noticed, is right after dinner when hubby and I used to go out to the garage and have a few smokes after the big meal. I've changed the routine up a bit to take the kids outside so they can play and I enjoy a few handfuls of sunflower seeds.
I've also decided no more sleeping with the patch on. Although it does help with the wake-up cravings, I had a really disturbing dream last night, which is one of the side effects of wearing the patch in your sleep.
Congrats to you!! Hang in there and take it a day, an hour, or a minute at a time.
I feel very fortunate never to have picked up the habit...it sounds like such a tough, tough habit to break. So, I can't offer up any great advice, but I'll certainly throw some support your way.
Take care and all the best to you and Matt as you work on this one together.
You can do it!!

Perosonally, I've never smoked anything in my life. I've been watching (and hearing!) first-hand what cigarettes do to people for my whole life. That's all I needed to clue me in to the fact that cigarettes probably aren't good for you.
My love is staying an anchor tied to you with that silver chain.

Why not put in a hammock and you and Matt can go spend a few minutes of quiet time there right after dinner? You two squeezed in some "us time" when you smoked (and a big part of smoking is taking deep breaths, so it is relaxing), you could just change the routine/habit to a relaxing few minutes in the hammock to recharge.

my edgy time was around 3pm in the afternoon, after work, and when the everyone started coming home from school and work....
and of course, after the evening meal...
that's when, the first few weeks, I'd slap an extra patch on, sometimes, around 3pm...the after meal thing...I cleaned off the table and emptied or filled the dishwasher to get my mind off of it
I slept in the patch, they did provide some interesting dreams...
have you noticed feeling better when you first wake up, ie, not as much coughing, hacking, etc?
When it goes from full to crescent...I move in and out of tune...Everlasting Moon....
Congratulations! September will be 3 years. I didn't get the actual date because I never thought I would have succeeded.
I liked to smoke. I really enjoyed cigarettes and alcohol. I started getting chest pains at age 36 and figured something was not right. I hit the patch and smoked with the patch on. But when I smoked that last one, I never thought that would be it.
I have talked to a couple of people that have quit and their cholesterol went up as did mine. Anyone else?
