I just recieved this in my email,
"Ahoy, Folks ...
Your local sanctioned Parrot Head Club is always in search of new members who embrace the music and writings of Jimmy Buffett and believe in "leaving things just a little better than they found them ... and having a BLAST while doing it."
Here's your opportunity to give something back ... to the community, the environment and to your fellow man.
If you're interested, please give us a reply with your name, city & state and we'll get you all the contact info on your local club.
Come join the "ParrotHead Nation" and help us "Party With A Purpose.""
I've posted my email on the ticket exchange, is this a phishing expedition or something that goes out periodically, it's from "BH the PH" <
bhtheph@comcast.net>
Thanks for any help!

Check the full header of the email and also the properties of the link.
I can tell you how to see the Full header using Outlook Express but if you are using something different for email, it is done differently.
RIGHT clik on the email
LEFT Click on Properties.
LEFT Click on Details
LEFT Click Message Source
The window displays the FULL HEADER info. You can then enlarge the screen if needed and you read the header info from the bottom to the top.
The person sending the email is at the bottom of the details along with their IP #. UNLESS they spoofed their address and IP #.
You can then check the IP# from various places online. ( You can search how to run an IP trace or let me know and I will send you a couple of sites or so. All you do is enter the number and click go/Find now, or hit enter. )
I do not and refuse to deal with, unsolicted e-mail businesses or persons that got my email from an open or unknown source. I generally report them to the FTC and my ISP and add them to the email SPAM filter.

I have been receiving dozens of unsolicited emails a day about vi@gra, stock I should purchase, etc., but no parrothead types of spam. I was just reading an old Dear Abby column that says we should report unsolicited spam (not necessarily this one, but the kind I am getting) to the FTC at
spam@uce.gov. I never saw that addy before, so I am going to try it!

This is what I get...also after looking at it closer it appears to have gone to the wrong mailbox "
TropRock@Yahoo.Com" not mine.

A lot of times they will send Blind Carbon Copy ( Bcc) to other people and will use variations of the nick name such as rw pointed out.
It might be you were sent it by accident from a private person that has your address. I doubt a legitimate business would send you an e-mail by mistake though.
For example if you as person hit "Reply All" on an email instead of "Reply", (or "Reply to Sender") then everyone the original person sent the email to gets the email you just sent and you can and will end up with a lot of strange addresses in your addie book.
Most legitimate businesses work a bit different.....
You probably already know this, is to NEVER open an e-mail from someone you don't know and DON'T EVER OPEN AN ATTACHMENT from someone you do not know. That is a good way to wind up with a nasty on your computer and create some headaches for you and your puter and possibly people on your contact list.

When your email address isn't in the "to" field, it usually means
it's in the "bcc" field and invisible to you. Often spammers will
send messages to hundreds of addresses that are similar. That's
why it looks "misdelivered" when it actually was addressed to
you as part of a big group mailing.
"BH the PH" is probably Bob, the Membership Chair for PHIP.
This sounds like a standard letter inviting people who are
Buffett fans to check out their local PHC. Not sure where he
might have picked up you email addy. You can contact him
at phipmembership@mail.com if you want to ask any questions.

Again, try contacting phipmembership@mail.com and see if you've been
stuck on a mailing list. If that's the case, I'm sure you can be removed.

OOPS! I just got an email back from
phipmembership@mail.com to say he/she doesn't have a mailing list. So don't anyone else send them a request!
Des, PackPhanGirl and I were talking about NON-parrothead spam mail. I guess we got off the subject, but it is definitely unsolicited email.

The
PHiPMembership@mail.com address belongs to Bob Heffelfinger, Director of Membership, Parrot Heads in Paradise, Inc. and is used for PHC business only ... And the only mail list I have is a roster of Parrot Head Club Presidents.
