Nice! That's in Baltimore, right?
I've never made it down there for that one, but I did make a set of costumes one year for a couple of Alucard and Maria from the Castlevania games.
It's on my list of 'someday' things I'd like to attend. The list grows longer and longer
Let me know how she likes it, I'd be very interested.

No, I viewed it as not worth my time to bother. But she obviously went back and told all of her cronies, since I've had miscellaneous questions since then. Not one intelligent question, of course.
The highlights so far:
-'why do you actually sit in the parking lot all day? what's the point?'
-'I thought buffett was dead....he's still tours? I bet half the seats are empty, right?'
-'I thought gamers were like dorky college kids....I bet your husband's dragging you to it, right?'
-'So what do you play at these conventions? checkers? trivial pursuit? seems like a waste to drive all that way...'
Yes, it's slow in our office, so the kiddies need to find other people's business to occupy their time with.
*sigh*
I am thinking it is time for this person's win.com file to disappear from their C:/ drive....

yep Baltimore. The one thing mom got involved in was making sure they picked a safe hotel. I'm not at all familiar with this stuff. My knowledge is limited to what I pick up from talking to her and her bf. But she's my daughter, I love her and I like to be able to make basic conversations about her interests. Screw the co-worker. What kind of childish person can't see we all have different interests and joys.

nah, cause then that causes more work for my coworkers. They're the only ones that do know what I'm talking about.

but that comment really can't be let slide... granted, it'd be taking karma into your own hands, but an insult like that really requires payback. perhaps 4 toothpicks in her valve-stems.. something.

That's good, I don't know much about baltimore either other than where the aquarium is. I hope she has a great time
and as for the coworker, that's exactly what she acts like, a child. Her entire existence is based upon being a gossip-monger, so that pretty much tells you what kind of person she is

Trust me, the vindictive, self righteous part of me wanted to stand there and absolutely rip her apart about things I know about her, but being that it's at work, and the simple fact that she would not understand anything I said over two syllables, it just wasn't worth my time.

one of the few times of someone being so dim that "if breathing weren't autonomic, you'd suffocate" is a protection rather than a hinderance.

You are absolutely correct on that one.

Gencon, that brings back memories. It's been a while since I attended one, like 20+ years.
I agree that your co-worker is an individual who will eventually get run over by the wheel of karma.
Have fun at Gencon and let your co-worker think whatever passes for thoughts in her childish head.

All your hobbies sound normal to me -- it's the other people in your office that seemed abnormal.
I'm so glad my last job had a SVP that is a parrothead. Everyone in our office eventually "got it"

I too had co-workers who could not understand why I took off the day of and the day after a JB show.
I changed jobs.

It's true that people make fun of what they don't understand (perhaps what they fear?).

sy goes "postal" with medieval meat cleaver-type weapon!!
This would get headlines, and give gamers a bad name (and a 'BAD' rep).
