"Old" as in, "I know where I was when they walked on the moon-old", or "OLD" as in, "Larry and I fended off dinosaurs on our way to the school-cave-OLD"?Bubbaphan wrote:I'm older!PIA wrote:I'm not gonna lie...i have a thing for older men...

Good Job!OceanCityGirl wrote:well I got thru the day and met my goals, impressive. I do work best under pressure. I"ve done string writing for newspapers and always had a deadline. I could do this work easily. I could do all of this even at the last minute.

!
Come to think of it.....maybe thats why I have a phlocking several times a year.....You should see the list of "TO DO'S" I know have to have finished by 9/22.

Of course some of that list is not necessarily my TO DO...but Mr. Top's..... And there lies a problem! However to his credit.... he works better under a deadline as well.
Honestly, I tend to think setting reasonable or small goals helps...it's not so overwhelming that way...and you can cross more stuff off a list, too.OceanCityGirl wrote:well I got thru the day and met my goals, impressive. Maybe Herman and Jimmy had something with that "write a page a day" routine.![]()
Strongly disagree... I've read many a book on writing, and they say that if you show up to work at a certain time, and don't let yourself get distracted, your muse shows up too. Hemingway had a schedule... get up early each a.m. and write as much as possible before a deadline: noon. Creativity flies out the window and is wasted if you don't schedule, plan and set deadlines. All successful writers/painters/artists are disciplined.Tequila Revenge wrote:Quiet and Shy wrote:Honestly, I tend to think setting reasonable or small goals helps...it's not so overwhelming that way...and you can cross more stuff off a list, too.OceanCityGirl wrote:well I got thru the day and met my goals, impressive. Don't screw up your book by writing on a schedule and setting dead lines.![]()
Ernie Hemingway got up and wrote for a few hours in the AM, went to the bar for rum drinks and then went fishing. He took the time to LIVE LIFE so he could CAPTURE the essence of each and every experience. Ernie touches every sence in his writing and you feel his words. Creativity can not be scheduled or prioritized. Just give yourself some "just OCG" time to let those creative juices flow. And don't forget to drink rum and go fishing
I agree. I need goals or I wll get nothing done. This book didn't have a page done until I set some goals. I"m not a taskmaster and if I really want to I can take a day off to hit the beach. But I do need to put some structure into my life.carolinagirl wrote:Strongly disagree...
