OK I admit I was a Hagar fan in the 80's and I really liked Van Halen with Sammy. I have enjoyed every Sammy Hagar concert I have seen (only 1 I think?) The Redrocker brings a great energy to his live shows & music.
I have not followed anything Sammy has done since leaving Van Halen .... until now..... I have been listening to the new release from Sammy Hagar & The Wabos, Livin' It Up. Sammy is the Jimmy Buffett of Rock & Roll. This whole CD is about beaches, bars, sailin, drinkin' and livin' it up. Dont believe me... listen to samples on his website. Just because its Sammy Hagar dont form an opinion before you listen. This CD has some country sound along with the rock. This is a very good CD, IMHO!! http://www.redrocker.com/index.php?s=me ... phy&aid=35

much better than the whiney version Toby Keith made when he first ripped the song off from Micheal McCloud.
I've heard Michael's and imo there was no similarity musically at all.
He mentions the characters in a bar , a subject I'm sure lots have covered. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 5751606288
After watching it it seems that it's just part of his shtick now and is intended to entertain the "tourists"
I do think that Toby's version should have been more upbeat.

we might have to agree to disagree on the former, but Sammy's version (at least the live version I heard here in CMH) puts to boots to Toby's version in a big way. The way his voice lit up when he riffed, "I love my bar"..
I have always liked Sammy. I have all his solo stuff and for a long time considered him a rockin' Buffett. I think I even said I would love to see Jimmy and him do a collaboration. Sammy has a song called Tropics of Capricorn that is awesome!
When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.

Redheads are not quite as mellow, but they got better tequila to fuel the fun.

Sammy's hopin' for an appearance at his birthday party bash this year I guess..
Reading the credits I noticed Kenny Chesney wrote "One Sip", which is a good song. I really would like Jimmy and Sammy to cover one of each others songs.

Jimmy singing, "There's Only One Way To Rock".....

Duh, I'm an idiot!! ....now that I've caught up to what the rest of you already know..... I forgot to go buy the album on Tuesday. Guess I'm going at lunch.
Good to hear that it's a good collection of songs. I'm not surprised. Just had too much other stuff going on this week to remember the release date.
Redheads, Parrotheads, Deadheads, we're all a great bunch of partiers (and people) with great leaders!
I'm just tryin' to get by being quiet and shy,
In a world full of pushin' and shove.

Sammy doing, "Havana Daydreamin'"
I believe Peter Mayer would enjoy that
Sammy could pull off "Havana Daydreamin"
If Peter put out a blistering solo in the middle of "TOOWTR", my belief that he is more airy than power in his guitarwork would be shattered.

will end up waiting until Sat. to pick up my copy. But, I do need to get it.
I'm going to see Sammy in concert Saturday night....he's touring with his normal band and also doing a set with Michael Anthony which they are calling "The Other Half". I can't wait....Sammy's shows have always been awesome...this should be even better!
