It is, buy why spend the money promoting a show that's been sold out for months? Are they just trying to convice me to buy an extra t-shirt when I'm at the show?

Do they run these ads before or after Jimmy Buffett concerts sell out in record time? IIRC, MSG sold out pretty quickly, not to mention the rest of the shows. Is there really a reason they need to advertise at all, at least for Jimmy Buffett?

The spots are not really run to sell tickets, they are run to meet the requirements of the sponsorships, ie.....

"Corona and Corona Light in conjuction with Margaritaville Tequilia and anybody else that Jimmy can think of to slap a logo on the stage for proudly present......"
"Boat drinks, waitress we........nevermind"

I must say, i wondered about that when i saw a big ad for the MSG concert in the sunday NY Times the day before tickets went on sale...
do you think that without the ad, tickets might have lasted for TEN minutes?

Well, at least it was black and white, not color. I know Mr Buffett delights in spending our money foolishly, but really........!!
