Same as the NFL for adding their bye week only adding a bye helps NFL cutting a bye hurts college. It is so tough to get college age kids up for games 12 weeks in a row. Should be interesting. I cannot see a team playing 12 weeks in a row going undefeated. I love the Thursday night games. The teams playing that game usually have a week off before and a long week before the next game to prepare
You knew after colleges had a couple of seasons of 12-game schedule revenue back in '02 and '03, they would push for that to become the norm. As far as mid-week night games, they might be nice to watch on TV, but as a season ticket holder I can't stand them. My team has two Saturday afternoon home games this year, rest are Thursday & Friday (Friday, wtf?) games. It's frustrating that the school caters to TV money while inconveniencing the fans sitting in the stands.
Oh my Gawd!!! Try being a so-called mid-major who has to jump through fiery hoops to get TV exposure. My Dogs have played on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays just to get some East coast exposure. I am glad that ESPN is playing sugar-daddy to us, but to expect us play on a Tuesday??? This year we have a Wednesday game...WTH is that !!!

Veteran sportscaster and "Voice of the Arkansas Razorbacks" was killed in a car crash last night. I had the pleasure of working with him a few times, and must say that he was one of the nicest people on the planet.
He will be sorely missed by the Hog fans this season, and for years to come. Good thoughts, prayers and phin power to his family.

Sail on Paul.
"Touchdown Arkansas!"

How sad. Sail on, Paul.

Clemson lost the "Voice of the Tigers," Jim Phillips, a couple of years ago. He had been Clemson's voice for every sport since I have been alive, more than 30 years. It was so sad and so WEIRD to hear someone else calling a Tiger game for the first time ever. Will be a hard adjustment for the Razorback fans, I'm sure.

Well, the national picture just got more interesting. My wife just got off the phone with a sports reporter friend of hers and the word around the campfire here in Oklahoma is that OU starting QB Rhett Bomar and one other player have been kicked off the team. Supposedly had a "job" this summer for which they got paid for hours they didn't work.

That QB was so sought after too. Too bad...but he will play again.

Peterson is maybe the other player?

Yeah I will be there this year. You coming up to Columbia for the game? If so, let me know, we have reserved parking in the fairgrounds, come over and tailgate. As long as you dont mind being around nothing but Gamecock club members!

Well, the news stations have been busy lately at UT. One player kicked off the team last week for public inappropriate comments, another has been suspended for aiming a toy gun at an off-duty officer while on the interstate this past weekend, and now another has been kicked off the team for getting a DUI this morning after being all over the news for screwing his assistant principal last year so she would change his grades and absences. When are they gonna get it? Discipline problems are tearing down our program and are gonna cost Phil his job sooner than later. God, I hope this isn't a sign of what's to come this season. :-?

Oh, check out my new banner for this Fall!

This may hurt your first game...
Four Miami Hurricane players, including running back Tyrone Moss and receiver Ryan Moore,
were suspended for the Sept. 4 season opener against Florida State because they violated team policy.

We forget that these are 18 yr old boys....not that that is an excuse, but...

Better to get this over with now and behind you than during the season as a distraction.

UGA is having their own troubles...2 of 3 of our recruits didn't qualify academically. And our 3rd top recruit just changed his mind? :-?

We will not be at the game, (don't have away tickets) but will be at Border Bash.

And with the game not starting till 7:45pm (the ESPN game)...that will be some day of tailgating!!

I will have to ask our daughter and her friends if the are going.
She is a season ticket holder and may have bought (if she had enough points aka donation $$$), away tickets.

But on a side not, part of this is Phil's fault. I remember when he let Claussen and Kelly (The Future) Washington
completely rule the team. I remember Fulmer saying "until the others can play like those 2, they can continue to
say what they say." Those 2 probably more than any, divided that team, with the blessings of Fulmer.

It may be hard for him to bring down the hammer, or the players to think he is serious after the last few years....

He needs to bring in Pat Summit to shape up that team! And she could do it too!
