well Rich hasn't talked hardly at all.
I HONESTLY think he's using this to sweeten his position here at WVU. He's been wanting a new facilities and raises for his coaches..and he got some of that this past June, but WVU isn't moving quick enough for him on the facilities end.
It just doesn't make sense how he would call the Statewide Sports radio show which is hosted by Toni Caridi -who is a very reputable announcer for our team - and say several times 'i plan to be at West virginia for the rest of my career - if they'll have me"
why would he say that on Friday and then decide to leave.

1992, off the drunken ba$tard went for Toronto..
never trust an athlete or a coach claiming something like that.

Coaching changes s*ck. My Chips of Central Michigan just lost their coach, you could see it coming if you read between the lines.
Interviewed for MSU & Iowa State, a lot of rumors but I don't think he was ever offered either position. Said something like "I'm not leaving CMU for Michigan State or Iowa State." Didn't say "I'm not leaving CMU". Had an extension on the table he hadn't signed. A week goes by, we win the league championship game, and 48 hours later he's the head coach of Cincinnati.
There's hardly a good time for a coach to leave, recruiting is almost year-round, there's spring practice, bowl games, etc. But this time of year is really bad. Now we've got a bowl game with an assistant running the show. Cincinnati was going to have an assistant for their bowl, except he went with the old coach to MSU. So, CMU's coach, who hardly knows anything about his new team, will have to coach them in their bowl game. Crazy.

Here are a couple of our recent examples
I am all about Boise State - Houston Nutt on his way to the airport to take a plane to Arkansas
Bigger is not better, better is better. Boise State is better - Dan Hawkins. About a month later he was wearing criminal stripes.
Don't blame these guys, there is no such thing as job security in college football. Our former head coach Dirk Koetter just got fired for taking his team to 5 straight bowl games. Frank Solich got fired from his alma mater Nebraska after a 9-3 season. Ty Willingham got fired by Notre Dame after only 3 years. Your former head coach is now unemployed after not getting Stanford heading in the right direction after 3 years.

Actually Harris was in his second season. He replaced Buddy Teevens who was fired after only three years.

You're right, my bad. It is hard to keep up with all these changes. We know them here due to the fact that our coaches seem to always be in the conversation

that was pretty much expected..
so much so that the travel places here have been offering
packages for a week..
My guess on the rest
Sugar ND/LSU
Rose USC/MICH
Orange Wake/Lvillle
BCS OSU/FL
My reservations were made right after the Nevada game.
Who else is heading to a bowl game?
I'm actually going to two. Oklahoma State (my wife went there) vs. Alabama in the Independence Bowl on 12/28. And then Nebraska vs. Auburn in the Cotton Bowl on New Year's Day.

Rich Rod must really be trying to sweeten his deal...
"Oh," Rodriguez said. "Well, we didn't talk about anything specific. We didn't talk about plans or facilities or anything."

ya the reference to facilities in his quote, may have just been a hint to WVU's AD to get moving on getting that new weightroom/lockerroom and study facility!

BC's Tom O'Brien to take the NC State job. A rare intraconference coaching hire.

Having dealt with BC fans and boosters last year at the MPC Bowl, I am willing to bet he was sick of all the whining and bi*ching.

BC was one of ex-CMU head coach Brian Kelly "dream jobs". He's from Chelsea, went to St. John's prep in Danvers and Assumption College (another Catholic school). CMU played BC really tough in this year's opener, really shoulda won. I think they might have had serious interest in him.....too bad he jumped ship to Cincinnati 3 days earlier.
Gotta love karma.

Ironic indeed!!! Although you can't argue with the pay increase the Bearcats most likely gave him, gotta question if Cincy will be a place to make your mark with Mel's Mountaineers and Louisville alread having a stronghold in the Big East.

He went from being a big fish in a small pond to just the opposite. I think Cincy is another "stepping-stone"
Mel, it don't look too good.

Who's the "next man in"?

I still have hope. No it doesn't look good. The guy is FROM West Virginia. Honestly, WVU football is IT here. If he goes, we'll take it personally...and he better take his entire family from Grant Town to Tuscaloosa, because it could get ugly. *sigh * I'm not even going to claim him as a relative anymore either.

HELL NOOOOO lol
I'm a Mountaineer through and through..no matter what. Obviously...it's painful.
WVU fans take it personally. Unlike other colleges around the country, who have multiple schools in there state, this IS the STATE university. Fans are already upset with Rod. Maybe it is best for him to just get the #### out. *sigh*
anger. sadness. anger. sadness......bleh. we bleed blue & gold...he's only seeing GREEN>
