I jsut listened to the new Sammy Hagar cd. It's an awsome cd. He is the hard rock version of Buffett. During a song called Sailin' Jimmy Buffett's name is mentioned. It's a good drinking/party cd. I think it would be fun to hear Sammy, and Jimmy together. They both live the Island party life. When I saw Sammy Hagar this year he had Margaritaville featured during his video intro. It was pretty cool.

I love Sammy. I saw him last year (again) amazing voice for his age, he hasn't lost it.
It would be fun to watch Sammy jam with Jimmy, funny how Sammy's developed his hard rock island theme.
I'm sure Sammy was inspired by Margaritaville's sucess when he opened his Cabo Wabo Cantina and started his Tequila....

My money is on Sammy. Johnny goes down half-way into the 2nd round after backpedalling furiously during the first...

If memory serves me correctly, and it rarely does, Cabo Wabo Tequila has been around just a bit longer than Margaritaville brand. However, Jimmy did beat him to market on the themed restaurant/bars.
Me, I prefer Cabo Wabo tequila, but like both of their music. The Red Rocker is awesome!

Not trying to change direction of the thread, just a side note.
Years ago I was at a Hank Jr. Concert in Sacramento and Sammy came running out on stage and helped out on a couple of songs.
So if you play six degrees of separation, we could get Sammy, Hank and Jimmy all on the same stage for a serious party.

Hi Everybody,
Just thought I would get my 2 cents in.
Me and Mick The Pirate just saw Sammy at the Tweeter 7/1/06.
Now we are getting ready for JB at the Tweeter on 8/1/06.
We go to Cancun twice a year and have visited Margaritaville down there and in the US.
Point being, Sammy is the "heavier version" of JB.
Sammy and JB both have the same tropical mentality which I think both fan bases have helped to create.
But let's remember it was JB who started this entire tropical lifestyle for his fans, the PH/BN nation.
Were it not for JB, who weathered the storm of never winning an award of any kind or getting the recognition he deserved for decades.........
Sammy's "tropical career" and his Cabo Wabo Cantina and Cabo Wabo Tequila would most probably have never happened.
Sorry if that was more than 2 cents.

I like Sammy too. I was disappointed the other day hearing either Steve Huntington or Carson Cooper dissing the album and saying they would never play him on RM.

I've never been into Sammy's music, but when we were in Tahoe at Cabo Wabo, drinking Sammy's tequila, I could totally see Sammy & Jimmy hanging out, doing a concert together.
Aside from that, Sammy's tequila and restuarant rule over Margaritaville. I know that is sacrilege (sp) but I stand by it

I heard that too, but I'm sure it was Miles - listening when I was driving home from work ~7ish eastern. Miles was quoting some other site/story that said something like Sammy Hagar, the new Jimmy Buffett! But I recall Miles saying also that Sammy was 59, like Jimmy. Not so! Sammy is only 58!
I also recall this: "I can't drive 55, [something like... not gonna play here on RM]". Sammy Hagar is cool, I agree, but he's definitely
NOT the new Jimmy Buffett.

given a choice between "copycats"...
Sammy Hagar: solid body of work with both Montrose and Van Halen prior to going solo. Great fan interaction (I gotta say that it really impressed me that Sammy was signing stuff for fans DURING the show; and that he allowed regular cameras into the auditorium/shed/venue without batting an eye. (if you read or hear this)PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THIS MR. BUFFETT: CAMERAS GOING OFF DURING THE SHOW DON'T HURT A THING AND ACTUALLY GIVE FANS A LITTLE "SOMETHING" FROM THE SHOW!!! and at 58 (yeah, only a year younger than Jimmy), he has a lot more play-dates that Buffett. Good business sense: Sammy uses the Cabo Wabo promotional budget to fund a lot of the tour costs, so ticket prices are not insane ($50 for lower Pav, $20 for upper, and $10 for lawn). REALLY GOOD TEQUILA instead of that mixto crap M'ville puts in a bottle and no "flavours". Has young Buffett hair.
Kenny Cheeseny: has the height of Buffett, minus a couple inches. Bought a rum distillery. bought an island. bought a cowboy hat. bought a wife who left him 4 months later. Makes lots of money, tho never will get a dime from me. Is a Vol... Fans p.o.'d because name "Cheeseheads" already taken by Wiscaahnsinites. Has old Buffett hair.

Sammy was on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last night. He did 1 song (don't know the title), I wasn't impressed. And he was wearing capri pants.

Shouldn't a guy like Sammy Hagar shop in a mens clothing store?

he is a bit "fashion-impaired", but then, we know of a 59 year old who wears wristbands..
