There's nothing wrong with the lawn, though with 'keets you may spend more time watching them than watching the stage (or the big-screens).rvulcan500 wrote:Unfortunaly the lawn
Do you already have the day off? What about the following day? Have the 'keets seen you party before? I've seen 'keets in the parking lot as early as noon and they fit in great. Following their parent around, laughing and having a great time.
This will be a learning experience for them, certainly if you show up early.
Jump into one or both of these and see what the plan is:

My keets are old enought they should stay in sight. We will be staying in Attleboro Ma. The night before and leaving the day after. We are from Vermont. We would like to hook up with other families there. Has anyone been there before? We are concerned about the kids being in the sun too long. In the concert what are we allowed to bring (chairs, drinks, food?) My kidds have seen me drunk before. I got drunk when We finally got Tickets after trying and saving for 12 years.
Thanks

You may want to invest in an EZ Up type shelter (around $100) for the parking lot along with camping chairs. That way you can take shelter from the sun and sit for a while.rvulcan500 wrote:My keets are old enought they should stay in sight. .... We are concerned about the kids being in the sun too long. Ric

We are bringing our keet too. She's 10. She was at Jones Beach on 07.01 and had a great time. Bring enough books toys, games, etc to keep em busy. They should have a good time with all the sights. Ours wanted to go for a couple of years and we kept putting it off. We asked her if she could put up with people acting silly all day. Her reply, " Dad, I'll just make believe I'm in school." Oh, and a nap before you go in is a good idea. Make sure the keets take 1 too. We'll be in the RV lot in the back. We'll keep an eye out for you and the keets. Have fun.

Invest in keet friendly water bottles and the "continuous spray" sunsreen brand of your choice. The water will keep them hydrated and the sunscreen saves time. It applies easier, is less messy, and they can spray themselves. Coppertone also makes a sunscreen stick that works great on faces and ears. These work well for us when we take the keets out to play.

This summer we took the keets (9 and 11) to the Apline Valley WI Show (We're from MN). We also had lawn seats, which in my opinion were better than a lot of the pavilion seats.
We made a mini vacation out of it. Stopped at the Dells on the way for a night and the concert the next.
Parking lot opened at 1:00, we got there at 2:00pm. Unpacked the cooler, got them their pops and snacks, me a Corona, loaded up on the sun screen, and walked around the parking lot Parrot Head watching. They loved it and luckily they didn't see anything too bad. It was fun walking around as people would see the kids and give the thumbs up or make nice comments to them. Made them feel pretty important.
The concert gates opened at 6:00 so we got in line at 5:30 with our blanket, binoculars, and jackets (it was cold that night). At 6:00 when the gates opened we high-tailed it to the perfect lawn spot..basically row 2 of the lawn. Once settled, my daughter and I got our new Buffett ware (t-shirts) and snacks. There was enough going on all the time that they were never bored and I never heard "when is it going to start."
We were constantly watching the stage before the concert with the binocular. We saw Mac McAnally talking to someone on stage. That got the kids really pumped. I didn't get the binoculars back the rest of the night. The time just flew by.
Once the concert started the kids, along with a few other keets got right to the railing. They had a PERFECT view and I had a good view of them. We were still close enough to see Jimmy and the bands' facial expressions.
Having the keets there did not distract from the concert at all, in fact it was so awesome seeing the exceitment in their eyes as they finally got to see the guy that plays the music that Dad listens to all the time. In the words on my son "On a scale on 1 to 10 that concert was a 100!"
Have Fun!!!!

We've gotta roll with the punches
Learn to play all of our hunches
Makin' the best of whatever comes your way
Forget that blind ambition
And learn to trust your intuition
Plowin' straight ahead come what may.
