Hi All, a great friend of mine is headed there in November for a wedding and asked me if I knew anyone that knows about the resort and things to check out in the area. I kinda just smiled at him and said I think I know some people that might be able to help.
Sooo, does anyone have suggestions on things not to miss in the area? He and his wife will be there for four days.
The place they are staying is right smack next to Theater of the Seas, which used to be an empty quarry after the Overseas Railway was built. They will be staying right in the middle of fish central. Not sure if angling is their thing, but at that time of year the sailfish and wahoo are real hot out on the reef.
If they head south to MM81, there are a couple of cool places there. The Zane Grey Lounge is a great place to take in a bit of big game fishing history. It's upstairs at the Outdoor World. Great store too. Just next to that is the Morada Bay Club. They just spent a few buck on the place and have a nice beach area with tables set up for drinks and the view. Nice inside bar also. November is a great month for that place.
If they head north about 2 miles on the bayside is Founders Park. Currently non-residents are $4 to get in, childrent $2.
Up the road in Tavernier at MM90.5 is Craigs. Heading east, it's just after Coral Shores High School on bayside. Best damn grouper sandwich around. Nothing of a view here, just a roadside eatery....but has always been 5 smiles in my book.
Hope it's a start. If they need more drop me a line.

Thanks CO, I think that will give them plenty to research and then do. They are boaters so fishing will probably be on their list to do.
Are there any places in the area with a good Margarita? I know they’ll ask.
In that area the place I would go in that area for a margarita is Morada Bay Club. Adjacent to the Morada Bay, between it and the Zane Grey lounge, are a bunch of flats guides in the marina there. There are also a couple of big game operators out of there also. Depends on what they are into I guess.
For the big league charter operators they will need to head over to either Whale Harbour or Holiday Isle. If that's their thing and something they want to do, I can recomment a couple.
