I have a Nokia 6101 and don't really care for it. I don't get great reception outside of the NYC area. The camera is only marginal at best (the pic in the sig is off the camera, and that's one of the best I've ever taken). And for some reason, the memory on my phone got screwed up so that I can only take 2 pictures. Memory seems to just disappear on my phone.

I have a Motorola (don't remember the model) and it does all it needs to do - makes calls and receives calls. It probably does other stuff too, but who cares. I don't need a phone that takes pictures or surfs the 'net or does any other extraneous crap.

Need to upgrade my phone and I remembered this thread.
I guess the Pink Razr is out. I just liked it for the color anyway.
It seems that several people are happy with their Samsung phones. I can get a Samsung D407
$99.99- online disc- $50 rebate = $9.99
* VGA camera with 4x digital zoom and flash
* Bluetooth® wireless connectivity
* Advanced messaging and multimedia capable
* Mobile e-mail - Yahoo®, MSN®, and Hotmail®
* Instant messaging with AOL®, MSN®, Yahoo!® & ICQ®
* Quad-band international phone
* Speakerphone for hands-free calls
* Group calling capabilities
* High-speed EDGE compatible
* Customize with Music Tone ringtones
Any opinions? I really don't care about Yahoo/Hotmail or even a camera but I do want Bluetooth and speakerphone.
Thanks,

The GSM and CDMA (network technologies) versions of the RAZR are vastly different. PIA would have had the CDMA (Verizon) variety (v3c or v3m) while your phone (this is Cingular, right?) would be the GSM variety...
I would check out some reviews at a place like
www.cnet.com, see what other people and professional reviewers think about the phone...

I just recently just upgraded my cell phone too and had looked at the razr. In the end, I decided to get the Samsung A920 and I absolutely love it. It's not as thin as the Razr or some of the other phones (also looked at the Katana), but it has a camera and plays music, and has an external memory - which was the deciding factor for me. That way you don't have to upload your pictures to the web to get them off your phone, you just insert the trans memory card into an SD adapter and it goes directly into my SD slot on my computer.

Yep - that's it for me too, Larry.

Yep, I have a Cingular plan. DH and I share minutes and it's really worked out well. Coverage is good for our area. The only time I don't have much of a signal is if we drive to KY and when we get out to the mountains of western Maryland/eastern W. Virginia and coverage is spotty.

I've had mine for a while and can't say anything bad about it. I do love how small it is.

I had a Motorola E815 for about a year when it started to do strange things on its own. When I went to upgrade the phones for wifey, the 2 keets and add my Dad to my plan, they swapped the E815 for a RAZR to match all the other RAZRs we were getting. I love it! It fits better in my pocket and I never worry about breaking off the antenna. My keets got pink ones and they love them. Reception is as good as the E815 where I go.

It's so funny - when I originally saw this thread, I thought, "I wonder why they don't like it. I've had no problems with mine!" Famous last words!
Yesterday, when I went to unplug it from its charger, it had a message on it: "Unable to charge".

It wouldn't even turn on! Finally I thought of removing the battery and putting it back in. I did and now it's fine!
I still like my Razr (pink). BTW, my service is with Cingular, and I am happy with them.
