I thought this would be a good place to get some good advice. My wife is going out of town to a family reunion on Thursday morning (I cant go because I cant take that much time off work). I have been seriously considering driving up to Manassas for the show on Thursday night from Myrtle Beach and driving back afterwards Friday morning (about an 8 hour drive) Two things that are holding me back:
1. going by myself (I have been to 23 concerts but never by myself I know that parrot heads are great people but there is still some aprehension about going by myself).
2. I'll probably be looking at about a $500.00 trip for one night (after ticket, hotel, gas, beer etc...) not that the money is that big of an issue but its still alot of money.
I know that I should go (wife has no problem with it). What would some of you do.
Thanks for the advice hope to see some of you in Manassas

If the money and travel time aren't an issue and you want to go...by all means, make the trip! The going by yourself is a total non-issue...just check into the BN thread for the show
http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=45685 and you'll have plenty of friends to hang out with!

Definitely Go!!!! If the wife has no problem with it (AND YOU'RE SURE ABOUT THAT PART) then you have no issues! There will be no lack of comradarie or conversation at the concert plus you'll have the roadtrip to listen to all kinds of great pre-concert music!! I went to Cincinnati this year solo (5 hr. drive) and had a great time!

I left the wife at home and went to see Jimmy at Wrigley by myself last year. I had a blast, met alot of people and didn't have to hold a purse when she went to the bathroom

Agree with the rest. If it doesn't cause strife in the home, go man go!!!
It is quite liberating to go to a concert alone.
I've been alone at:
Pearl Jam
Van Halen
Hank Jr.
Jimmy
Great times each in their own right.

I just went to Cinci in June by myself. It was my 6th show, 1st by myself.
I met some very cool people and never had to stand around by myself. Plus, by getting a single ticket I was able to get a 20th row seat from Ticketmaster a week before the show.
I kind of felt bad when the really nice people I was tailgating with looked at their watches and said..."uh oh...just an hour to go...We better go get a spot on the lawn." They looked at me and asked "Where are you sitting Paul?" and I felt bad bragging so I just said "Somewhere in the Pavillion to the right of the stage."
It was the best Jimmy show I've been to so far...Plus the treat of the night was Fingers Taylor as well as some great play from Jake.
How could you not go??????
Don't forget - We most often regret in life the things we didn't do!
GO! Have fun.
I'll be in Indy with my fiancee on Tuesday. I can't wait but wish we were going to Boston or VA to be closer to the coast.

Definately go. Some of my greatest adventures were when I ventured out on my own.

I went to Jones Beach and Alpine 'alone' and only knew a couple of the people that were going from this board - we all had a great time, and were even able to sit together in the pavillion, even though our tickets weren't together! When you meet up with the BN crew there, and you won't be alone!! Go for sure!!

Go for it!
I live in Maine and I've gone to Orlando, Tampa, Seattle, Portland , Oregon by myself and met lots of great Parrotheads and had a great time. Of course also been to Great Woods about 20 times with friends ( even with my wife a few times ). It doesn't matter - GO!!!!
