I hope this idea of playing this song in the encore section or even in the setlist goes away before Saturday. How about Shelter, Tryin To Reason, anything???

I like it, it's different. Does seem out of place to me in the encore though.

Maybe it was meant as a tribute to the U.S.S. New Jersey

You're in luck, Sonny Landreth already has a gig on Saturday so he won't be performing with Jimmy and the CRB.
August 2006
5 Newport Folk Festival
Saturday, August 5, Newport, RI
I know everyone has the songs that can't wait to hear live and those they can't stand to hear live, but it was given USS Z would be played last night with Sonny joining the band. It's a great song and I prefer Sonny's version over Jimmy's any day. That doesn't mean I don't want to hear it performed by Jimmy and the CRB. I was suprised it wasn't played before the encore last night after hearing that Sonny was there. I'd drop Brown Eye Girl for Trying to Reason or In the Shelter any night of the week.

there are weaknesses in the setlist this year for sure just like every year.uss z is certainly not the song i would pick to hear from far side of the world.but on the otherhand i dont like hearing dixie chicken, werewolves in london, piece of work, brown eyed girl, or scarlet begonias. theres another 5 songs where we could be hearing some of jimmys classics that he either never plays or seldom plays.
