not even sure if there is a TV station in KW. Just other forms of entertainment to keep you going to dawn. :D

Every station, radio and TV ended the broadcast day with the national anthem. Sometimes camping up in the northwoods, we would hear it 50 times a night as station after station we could receive signed off for the night

On the way in I was thinking, back in the late 50's and early 60's when we had 4 stations WGN was the first to sign on. You would turn it on and that Indian Chief test pattern would be there and finally at 6AM "Five Minutes To Live By" would come on and some old dinosaur of a preacher would give a sermon. Then the national anthem would play and finally The cartoons would start. From Indian Chief to Cartoon was the LONGEST FREAKIN' SEVEN MINUTES IN HISTORY

Why does my brain remember such inconsequential sh!t :-?
I also remember the test pattern Indian--but back in the dark ages, the TV didn't start broadcasting until NOON :o
And it was in black and white. :o
of course!
My parents didn't have a color tv until I was in college :D

I distinctly remember having my friend over for the night when I was probably about 8 or 9 (boys don't call them "sleep-overs", gosh). We were up early enough to catch the national anthem on Channel 18 before cartoons started, and for some reason we thought it was a great idea to do the whole baseball-cards-in-the-spokes thing on our bikes at 6am. My mom, needless to say, was less than thrilled.

But only Smokey Burgess or Cal Koonce went in the spokes and only if you had doubles

I grew up in the suburbs on Milwaukee, any Brewers cards were fair game. Besides, the cops handed them out to us.

I have heard the response to that, "what do you think wives and kids were for?' in my time.
