And there it was....

Post by Quiet and Shy »

There's been bunches of speculation and yes/no on whether Jimmy's using a teleprompter these days....

I distinctly thought he was reading during "Werewolves" at Cincy....

Last night during a song at Indy (I can't remember which one) they had a camera shot with it clearly in view...in fact it was so clear, one could almost read the lyrics off of it. :o

Anyway, I'm not posting this to judge, but merely to share. It was a great show and I'm glad he's still enjoying himself on stage so we can still have fun in the crowd. :D

We saw the screen shot as well, pretty sure it was while we were shaking our grass skirts to Dixie Chicken!! Maybe it is just for his covers, but if he used it for Margaritaville, I don't mind as long as he keeps having fun and we keep getting to enjoy it!

I'm so glad he changed his mind about using a teleprompter.....who cares? I'm older than he is and know the problem...both the memory quirks, and the desire to deny the problem...

....and i say to him "just keep truckin, kid....even if the day comes when you need to use a walker to get on the stage!!! Retirement isnt all its cracked up to be....

My dad is only 55 and forgets things sometimes. There are lots of words to lots of songs. I agree, whatever it takes. As long as Jimmy is on stage and having fun, then so are we.

Heck I already forgot what I had for dinner last night. Im sure its not easy to remember the words, along with all the cords to all of his hundreds of songs.

I am just happy Jimmy is still preforming.

I too have seen the prompter at the last couple of shows I've been to.
At first I was a little disappointed but later realized that he doesn't lose the lyrics as often which in turn makes for a better show.
I see it as just the next step after a song list. No one would go on stage without the entire band having a song list to know what they were playing next.
Makes sense to me.

I truly wish I could carry a teleprompter with me at all times. It would make my life that much easier. (Hmmm, maybe I should patent that idea). Don't worry, by this afternoon I will have forgotten all about that idea. :D

I think the idea got floated during the 2004 tour, and then last year's tour with a few flubs probably pushed it to the forefront.

That sounds about right - 2005...
I recall seeing something that resembled the teleprompter the President uses - clear and angled - at the front of the stage near his feet. I don't remember exactly when it was but I mentioned it to my wife. Then the next show we saw, it was absent. Then I thought I saw it again on television in a concert clip... 60 Minutes interview maybe?

I wouldn't care if they posted the lyrics on the Jumbo screen with a little bouncing ball if he meant he would drop most of the songs from the Yellow Album! :o

I see no problem with using a teleprompter.

I don't know how a singer with as many songs as Jimmy could possibly remember all the words to all his songs.
