Cat is eating the dog's food, slug is eating...
my cat's food. I swear to you, I walked into the kitchen, turned the light on, and the cat was crunching down on our dog's Beneful food and I look over at the cat's food area to make sure she has her OWN food, and I see a garden snail CARRYING A PIECE OF THE CAT'S FOOD toward the door. I had no idea those gross things could eat solid food, much less carry the stuff! What the heck is the world coming to? Next thing you know, the butterflies in the garden.......
aaaggggghhhhh!!!!

It sounds like Wild Kingdom tonight--we just found a coral snake on the front porchcitcat wrote:I quickly gathered the slug into a paper towel, sprinkled a generous amount of salt and QUICKLY threw the nasty thing away. What the heck kind of body parts do they have that allow them to CARRY a piece of cat food away? Oh my, the inhumanity of it all. I woke up the hubby and he was NOT impressed.

You’re still grinning, we’re still winning, nothing left to say

THAT...is NOT a good thing to find on your front porch!!
red touching yellow..will kill a fellow...
what is he doing in an urban area? suppose that all of your rain has flushed it out?
I hope these 4 cats do their job...
I do not want to find one of those anywhere near here...although, it could be likely!
And that's a fair sized coral snake, too..

We live in a newish subdivision and I'm sure his type was here first. We have found a few snakes since we moved in, but this is the first coral snake.Moonie wrote:springparrot wrote:It sounds like Wild Kingdom tonight--we just found a coral snake on the front porchcitcat wrote:I quickly gathered the slug into a paper towel, sprinkled a generous amount of salt and QUICKLY threw the nasty thing away. I'm really worried about the kittens that hang out in our front yard.

I've always heard that cats are immune to the poison..but I wonder about a coral snake...those are different neurotoxins..well I think so...my adult cats have killed copperheads and two of them pointed out a timber rattler this past fall...
I think a coral snake bites and hangs on and chews, he doesn't have fangs.
This is one snake I have a fear of, first time I've lived where they survive.
other non-poisonous snakes, sometimes will keep poisonous snakes away....
Do be careful...

So what happened to the snake? Did you leave it alone or "dispose" of it somehow? That is really scary! I would be freaking out every time I walked outside now!springparrot wrote:It sounds like Wild Kingdom tonight--we just found a coral snake on the front porchcitcat wrote:I quickly gathered the slug into a paper towel, sprinkled a generous amount of salt and QUICKLY threw the nasty thing away. I remember once at my best friend's grandmother's house in Dallas we found a coral snake on her front walk. Having grown up around rattlers all my life I just froze and said poisonous snake as I was in the "lead" to go in the house. Luckly my friend's brother was there and she ran inside thru the back door to get him and he killed it.springparrot wrote:It crawled off while we were taking pics and trying to keep the kittens away from it.PackPhanGirl wrote:So what happened to the snake? Be careful where you walk Molly. Hopefully it dosn't have a nest of babies around nearby.
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.
