I'll take our three girls any day over any amount of money.
Yeah, there are times when the day they move out can't come fast enough. But for me and Maria our keets have played a major role in keeping our school boy/girl hearts alive and well.

I love this! I'd seen it before but it never hurts to remind parents...

Now, I have a chocolate milk to refill before I can shower. Oh Sure...at 7, she COULD refill it herself...but the mess of a gallon of "choco-milk" on the kitchen floor or the sticky after she "cleans" it...no thanks,,,I'll get it for her... :D

Priceless, Connie! Thanks for posting.

When he was about 4, my dear son used to tell me "I love you" about a hundred times a day.

Now that he's 14, it's down to two or three. That's a human being that wouldn't be here if not for me, and he's turning out pretty okay.

That's more reward than anyone could ask for in their lifetime! :)

The cost of raising children is one thing. Just go with it and don't think of the costs. What else would we spend our money on ? Oh, we can find plenty of "things".

But,

Having a child .... priceless.

Nope, no dog. Only thing dogs are good for is biting kids.  Sorry, couldn't help myself...it's a quote from an old comedian, W. C Fields.

R2...you crack me up....

Most of you all know, My Mollie was not the "easy baby". Not getting pregnant, not carrying her, not delivery, nothing...well, I keep reminding myself how much we wanted her and how many times I prayed for her...especially when she ges into total melt down over which white sandals to wear this morning.

I reminded her most 7 year old little girls are told to put on their shoes...not a choice of which pair of white sandals she could choose from. ..Hey, don't blame me she is spoiled...talk to her Daddy and big brother. 8)

Some other W.C. Fields lines -
Do you like children?

Only if they're properly cooked.

and ...

I like children. Girl children. About 18-21.

I never really thought about it up front - the lifetime cost of raising kids that is. It just seemed like the natural thing to do. I love kids. Heck I would have had half a dozen if I could have talked my wife into it! :D

Like many things in life, if you have to ask "how much?" then you probably can't afford to pay the price (in this case the emotional one).

Someone (I can't remember who) once said that having children makes you a "hostage to fortune" and I think it's true. You don't have the luxury of only worrying (or not) about your own problems. But this is a good thing isn't it?

My dad told us on his 50th wedding anniversary that he never wanted any children, but Mom wanted a dozen, so they compromised and had six! ;)
