Yes, Cindi did allow us to use her FedEx account from point A to point B, as well as point B to point C. When it left my possession, aka point A, on Wednesday Dec 13th, I was 99% confident it would easily be in Jimmy's hands before his birthday. Due to an unfortunate series of events, such was not the case, and again, I'm sorry.

But rather than dwell on it, I'm trying to shift focus and think positive that he will have it soon. It is out of our control now, and the committee is waiting just as anxiously as everyone else to hear word of delivery. As soon as we know, everyone will know.

And to anyone who has issue with us keeping names out of it, that's just the way it is. We would like to keep some element of surprise, and we also have to make sure said parties are willing to be identified.

NO Worries, Lovey!!!! In all things the sense of adventure needs to be a real, tangible expereience! When all's said and done, think of the stories (both true and imagined) that will be told of the journey that this gift has taken........The stories of the journey may be as memorable as the gift itself...and certainly the two together....Wow....what fun!! So! NO WORRIES!!! and thanks so much for letting us be a part of it!!!!

No worries! :D We don't (at least I don't) blame you for any problems the book has had catching up with Jimmy!

Weather in Denver...people not able to be where they wanted to. The holiday season.....Lots of variables out there.

It will happen!

I really appreciate all the effort that went in to this! :D

what they were talking about is somebody on this thread suggested that Bernd from Germany was Jimmy. No secrecy. Just funny.
citcat is right......a while ago chippewa threw out the idea that Jimmy was posting under "Bernd from Germany". When I saw the best wishes from Bernd, I posted a " do ya think".

In no way was it meant to start something. Now I feel responsible for this.

There is no one who can judge the exceptional work the scrapbook team has done. Had it not been for them it would have never have happened at all.

With JB supposedly in St. Bart's for the Holidays, he would not have gotten it anyway.

We all need to send nothing but thank you's and appreciation to those that spearheaded the super 60 present.

You're such a goof, my friend. ALL of you did a GREAT job, and this just might be the best birthday gift Jimmy ever had. ;)

Dear Tiki, ejr and all the other wonderful people who made our gift to Jimmy possible,

I feel so awful that you were made to feel bad for the gift not arriving by December 25th. What's the saying: "No good deed goes unpunished." Heck, I wouldn't mind if he got the gift by JANUARY 25th! Not many of us would have gone through the time and effort to 1) make a beautiful and memorable birthday gift for Mr. Buffett and 2) do it in such a way that so many people could participate. You made it so easy for us to show Jimmy our love and appreciation. I'm sure Jimmy isn't sitting there thinking, "Those damn BNers! They're late in sending me my birthday present!" And actually, I think it turned out nicer this way. Instead of being part of his birthday/Christmas/vacation rush, he will have something wonderful on his return home, something he can appreciate and savor at his leisure. And, as someone else on here said, this will stretch his celebration! "The Twelve Days of Jimmy's Birthday" or something like that.

And as for secrecy, thank you for keeping us up to date with what is happening. I for one would think you just a bit screwy if you were to post here who is the connection who got the package to Jimmy. Gee, maybe then we could ALL send stuff to the connection to give to Jimmy. It suffices to know that it is on route and will be connecting with him shortly.

So, thank you again. You made us happy and I'm sure it's going to make Jimmy happy.

Thank you for your comments. As for the "specialness" of getting this gift after all the craziness of his birthday, I said the exact same thing to Tiki Bar last night. As long as it winds up in his hands, it is all good!

And yes, we do not want to put our connections in the position to be bombarded with requests (not that any of you would do that!) We appreciate their willingness to help us with this project and want to make sure we don't take advantage of their kindness.

Any time you are dealing with a celebrity, communication can be difficult. Especially one who does not stay in one place for very long. He is very nomadic. Furthermore, he is very ellusive. He likes to keep some distance.

He will get the book soon, I'm betting and he will appreciate it...and enjoy it. I am certain we will hear something from him...probably indirectly.

This will be like finding a 20 dollar bill in your coat pocket, after your coat has been in the closet all summer. It's a nice surprise. As the great Will Jennings said regarding Buffett, "Birthdays are irrelevent. Buffett...is timeless and ageless."

Having talked with Bernd extensively, and oddly, a lot of his stories about going to South America to celebrate a milestone sound familiar....

. .we're really trying to keep the when, where and who part " Hush-Hush " . .just in case Jimmy has some spies here searching for info . .

Personally speaking, this is a post I found exclusionary...I don't know the intent but it implied secrecy and basically said "I'll only share with some." The Bernd from Germany speculation was just plain funny.

I know things like this are hard to coordinate; they involve a lot of people, perspectives and details (some of which cannot be publicly shared), and require some luck. And of course, whenever we get emotionally wrapped up in something feelings can easily be hurt.

So the weather messed up Plan A. (Tiki, if you could control that you'd be a "God" not a "Bar" ....) As long as the book still exists there's always plan B, C, etc. and I'm confident the good faith effort will be made to get it to him when the appropriate opportunity exists. Sometimes patience just sucks...but so it goes. Hopefully we'll hear something soon. :)

That said, thanks to the originators, those who did the extra legwork to organize and to all the contributors, as well. It was a team effort that couldn't have succeeded without everyone's unique role in this gift.

...whats this 'surprise' business?? If Mr Buffett or anyone around him ever reads BN, the preparation of this gift has been well known to them for months!!! Surprise seems unlikely

...and if we didnt pick someone too perpherial to trust with this important responsibility, Mr Buffett should receive it by tomorrow, when he's in Washington for the Pelosi thing. I mean, I'm assuming, in the absense of any info, that we used someone like Charleston or Mike Ramos or someone with real contact with Mr Buffett, and they should surely be able to reach him by tomorrow, no??

Let's just say you'll all know when we know. Some things had to be kept private, and that's just the way it is. :)

Let's hope it's real soon. :)

. .I certainly never intended my reply to be taken as " exclusionary " . . I only meant to be polite by responding to a question . .

. . in a perfect world . .our plan to have Savannah give the book to Jimmy in the pre-Aspen interview, so that BN would be a highlight . . but. . that did not happen . .
