Dish network....vs...DIRECTV..............
.....i know there are a few pholks who who work for directv around here.
is there anybody who works for dish network? is there anybody who is a dish network customer? also, is there a web page where people voice their complaints or praise either service? i ask because i am giving strong consideration to the current dish network promotion of $19.99 for 10 months.

I've had Dish network for ~2 years and I love it. I have the mid-level package (America's Top 120) with no movie channels or extra sports stuff. I like the fact I can have 2 outputs from one receiver enabling me to record one program and watch another. I love having the Sirius channels on it! One of main reasons I got it was because Comcast Sports Network (Mid-Atlantic) comes with the 120 package. The only way I could get that station with DirecTV was to get the top-tier package and that was much more than I wanted to pay. While the receiver isn't a Tivo, it is pretty easy to use and has lots of Tivo like features. They also have some HD receivers to in case you have an HD TV.
As for downsides, it doesn't have Sunday ticket. Which could be a huge dealbreaker depending on your love for football. (I like football but I couldn't sit on the couch and watch football all day Sunday). I did have a problem with my receiver where I lost all my programs. I'm not sure what happened but it was annoying.
Overall, I think it's great.

Twenty degrees and the hockey games on...

Actually, the service itself and the packages aren't bad. I have more of a gripe with the company itself and the way it treats it's employees. Alright, shut up, you promised not to go on about it
Both are basically the same except for the NFL Ticket thing. You should see how many of the pholks I use to work with that had Direct just for that reason. Dish was too cheap to pony up any coin that could have gotten them a piece of the NFL action a few years ago.

NFL ticket would go to waste with me.
How could you possibly watch all of those games?
You'd be a house cat all Sunday.
Usually I'll watch my team and then be out the door living life, or at least I like to think I do

Hasn't there been ongoing debate over whether DTV and Dish/Echostar can merge? I hope DirecTV would get an upper-hand in that merger, regardless.El mojito wrote:My nephew helped Charlie start Dish - your right about how they treat it's employee'sPencil Thin wrote:Me tooSMLCHNG wrote:I'll be quiet with my comments about The Dish Network.. I've known a few people work for Dish and the same thing. The pay is so far under par for the industry, you practically pay them to work there.

You'd be a house cat all Sunday.Elrod can see Da Bears. And I just love football!
Besides, it's winter here, and ususally cold.
Truth is, I'll probably end up getting ESPN Game Plan for the college games so who am I to talk?
