Signs summer is ending

Post by thebeachbumm33 »

I guess it started last week when I took the keets to the Eagles preseason game, yesterday started school shopping, this morning on my bike ride noticed the birds working in the surf instead of the boardwalk and when I stopped for coffee my wife's favorite store had thier 20% off signs up.

I was curious if there were any subtle signs in your community to signal summer's final days??

For the 3rd of 4th straight year, one of the local grocery stores has Skippy Peanut Butter and Smuckers Grape Jelly for $1 each-always happens right before school starts.

My season tickets arrived in the mail last week.

Tonight is my 7 year old's first football practice.

My wife had to go back to work today.

Lake Michigan is warming up? :)

By law in MI, public schools can't start until after Labor Day. I mean, education's important and all that, but nowhere near as important as tourism dollars.

Well BB I live in the same town as you so -
I can sit on my deck and watch the football practices early in the am. I have a parking spot today on my block. I do fundraising for the hs track team and I'm working on our annual bridge run which is, aack 4 weeks away. Darker earlier, cooler out, crabs are running more and prices are cheaper. Alot of college kids left so stores are under staffed, the city has alot less summer cops and meter maids, etc.

For me it is the crickets. When I start hearing crickets during the day and late afternoon it means fall is on the way. I have been hearing them during the day for the last week or so. I am so excited I love fall. The only downside is I hate winter.

That just cause of the rain!!

Our area is actually back in an almost typical late afternoon shower routine.... cools things off nicely for evening....

The only real sign around here is that all the Texans and their RV's are fewer and farther between...

Until ski season, then they come back, usually without the RV's though....

Summer is not over until the S.F. Giants are no longer playing ball.

It may end earlier this year than some recent years
