Mobile,AL radio station finally figures it out!!!
As of 6AM Friday, Aug. 18th , WAVH, 106.5 in Mobile,AL which was formerly "The Oldies" has been playing
nothing but JB music and referring to the station as "Jimmy 106.5". It's great, but makes me curious as to what is going on. I have called the station but get no answer...
24/7 Jimmy Tunes in Fairhope,Lower,AL!!!!

...it's unfortunately probably a gimmick. Dave FM in Atlanta did the same thing with Dave Matthews 2 years ago. Playing only his songs for the first couple hours or so. It seems every market has some kind of "schtick" name radio station that is nothing more than another dude's name for "Jack" radio.
Look for your station in Mobile to start playing "adult alternative

." This format is supposed to be like listeing to your ipod, but it couldn't be further from the truth. It is basically a hodgepodge of stuff (think a lot of U2, Dave Matthews, Coldplay, etc), most of which I just yawn and turn it back to sports talk.
Dave in Atlanta used to be Z93, a top 40 station in the '80s and then a classic rock station (the only one to play Buffett), then dumped it for this format with no identity. Fortunately this station is failing miserably and will probably go in a new direction soon.
Atlanta radio sucks. Period. We have 2 classic rock stations (96rock and the River), neither play Buffett, and both play the same tired old crap from the 70s that have been run into the ground for 30 years.
