I love this show and am so irritated with them. Apparently there will be a block of shows, then a three month break, then another block of shows. Why would you have a show like this and do that. I just don't get why they can't run it like a regular series even if it means they end a bit early because they don't do enough episodes. But I also don't understand why they don't do enough episodes. Clearly they are making big bucks and can afford to.

This is why I buy the seasons on DVD, so I can watch them straight through. I watch during the year, but get frustrated, just like you.
I bet that's their plan, I shouldn't have said anything. Nothing to see here, just keep moving.

i'll buy the dvd but it's so stupid. It makes it impossible to follow and I'm sure keeps new people from starting in on the series.

Hey OCG! We have a great LOST thread
here
The producers have stated that the reason they are going to have the haitus is so that they don't have to show re-runs as dictated by the Network. (People complained about that, too.)
The first 6 episodes may run like a "mini-series", then after the hiatus, the show will run 17 straight new episodes.

I've seen commercials on several networks going with this approach. ER is going rerun-free this season as well.
It's a way of getting two mini-seasons of the show, but then also allowing a block of time for networks to show special events and air other new shows possibly coming to the network.
There's a whole bunch of us at BN dedicated to the stylings of "Lost"

Agreed BB....I think I'm going to like the hiatus since it will fall primarily during the Holiday season.

As Dez pointed out, they are making 23 episodes. You should try being hooked on
The Sopranos or
Nip/Tuck who only make 8-12 episodes a year.
