Why?
Why not? I think those two deserve more exposure than a simple soundtrack album. Didn't he do that with Livingston Saturday Night, putting it first on Rancho Deluxe and then putting it again on the next album?
Why not? Because those songs are already very readily available on the Hoot soundtrack. Why in God's name should he include them on an album of new material? And yes, Livingston Saturday Night did appear on Son of a Son of a Sailor (not the next album) but it was a totally newly recorded version. He's also re-recorded several other songs over the years like Captain and the Kid, In the Shelter, etc. but that's because he thought he could improve upon them. This doesn't go for the songs he re-recorded for Meet Me In Margaritaville which were better left alone.
Maybe he just likes them, okay? And I guess Jimmy can include whatever he wants to on his new cd.

I dunno, he puts covers on his albums, this isn't much different.

Maybe I just like the songs and would like to see them on an all-JB album. It's not like I'm saying that he should put the original version of Fins on the next album. I would like to see these songs reach a wider fan base that would buy the new album, but not necessarily the soundtrack.
Considering they were just on the Hoot soundtrack I would hope for all new original material on Buffett's next release, not such an immediate rehash.

I already have the songs from the Hoot soundtrack so I think it would be cool if we had some new ones.
The new songs seem to blow the Hoot songs out of the water anyway.

It's a better than average CD. It has some interesting stuff on it. I'm willing to guess that 'Good Guys Win' or 'Wondering Were The Lions Are' may be in next years set list. (Just a hunch) I kinda like Jimmy doing cover songs from time to time.
