I know I had a pair of those as a kid....I think they were the wallabees.

Don't forget, Jimmy used to "put quarters in his loafers" too.

I don't buy my winter boots on the basis of how they look :P

I go strictly for warmth!

I can't believe those girls I see running around in little high heeled boots. Besides the issue of breaking their necks on the ice...there is no insulation so they risk frost bite as well [smilie=umm.gif]

Ummm have we hijacked this thread????

There was another version of the song where he talks about having his hiking boots on. . . was this because Hush Puppies sued, so they re-edited for the radio or something crazy like that?
Anyway, I have my hiking boots on now!

Odd but I thought he was talking about this style.

The Oxford was their original style. Later in the early 70's they made a one color "wingtip" (actually more like eyeleted).

I'm thinking those must be what LIPH and bg were thinking of. This will be a new question that bothers me so!

But... we can go hiking on Tuesday... the "wallabee" style seems more condusive to hiking... and I just remember all of the hippie friends of my older siblings' wearing them!

Better ask Jimmy! :D
