WOW! This is Lucy's screen debut? After all her years in Hollywood,
I would've thought she had at least been an extra in some movie.
Hello Friends, Family, Parrot peeps and LuLu Lovers!
Some of you may know that LuLu's big brother Jimmy has a new record,
"Paddlin' Out," just weeks away from release. A video for the first single,
"Bama Breeze," will debut on CMT Thursday, August 31st, and be in
rotation throughout Labor Day Weekend. Watch the video and lookout for
a special cameo appearance from LuLu herself! "Bama Breeze" is a great
song loosely based on a little bar we all know and love on the
Florida/Alabama line...that was covered in 20 feet of sand after Hurricane
Ivan hit a couple of years ago. Jimmy filmed the video in Bay St. Louis,
MS. and New Orleans in July, and at the last minute called LuLu asking her
to play the bar owner at the end of the song to the lyrics:
"Second set the owner LuLu gets up with the band
Beer in her hand and sings Free Bird low-
And she raises a toast, here's to Ronnie and the boys
Everybody make some noise."
When asked about her first experience as an actor, Lucy said, "I had a
blast! Dressing up in 70's clothes, gettin' up on stage and singing with the
band after many cocktails was not much of a stretch...but I'll stick to
cooking."
CMT Insider will also feature an interview with Jimmy recorded on set
during the videos taping. Come down to LuLu's and watch the video on our
big screen or tune in to CMT this weekend!
I just saw it.... OMG... what a flash from the past.
Seriously... It makes me glad that I've been on this boat for as long as I have because I can remember when you could get into bars with a crappy fake ID, and when Freebird was first popular and blaring out of beach bars...
Jeez...I got tears in my eyes.
BTW, if your not a country music fan, it came on at ~40 mins into the show.
Some people never find it, some only pretend
But me, I just want to live happily ever after every now and then.

I'm not an mtv watcher, so cant judge the video as such, only that, unlike the earlier videos on the program, Mr Buffett was not 'sexed up' and suggestive....just sitting in that devestated bar singing
....and I liked the juxtaposition of the remembrance of bar fun with the underlying sadness of hurricane damage...maybe could have told that story in a slightly less disjointed way...
What a great song@!! I hope it gets the play it deserves.....Mr. Buffett doesnt need the money, but i suspect he'd get a kick out of country music success on this one--

Juxtaposition? I feel like I'm back in english class.
I do hope we get this at MSG!
Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

I've been humming the song ever since I heard it at GW 8/12. Anyone have the video? Didn't get to see it yet........
Patiently (yeah right...) waiting until midnight.....
What's really cool is that as much as I love this song, and think it's magnificent, from what we've heard so far I don't think it's the best song on the album....
