In 1998, when I was 16, I was on a family vacation and my older brother gave me his headphones and told me to listen to this song, which turned out to be CIP. I immediately began to listen to the couple cds my brother had of Jimmy and also read Tales from Margaritaville. I began to download Jimmy at college and now have about 250 songs on my iPod. Then last year I found BN and I spend close to an hour everyday at work browsing the site. 8)

As I sit in my office cube on cool 52 degree morning, Jimmy is what gets me through each day :D

I'd like to think the connection started when I spent on summer on St. Thomas in 1981 and heard Margaritaville on the radio all of the time. I was 10. But I had a long way to go.

In 1990-1991 my friends & I went to a house party near the NIU campus every weekend and they played SYKBH to death. I was sick of it. A friend bought it and played it to death in his dorm room and I was really sick of it.

In the spring of 1991 all my friends bought tickets for Buffett's July concert at Poplar Creek (moment of silence for a great venue). I bought a ticket just because I didn't want to be left out.

Suddenly, a week before the concert I got Volcano stuck in my head so I had to buy the CD. By the day of the concert I had 3 CDs and by the end of the concert I was a Parrothead.

I haven't missed a summer concert yet even though I had to travel to California one year to get it in and God willing I never will. My best friend & I are hoping to do something cool for our next show, number 30. We almost did Vegas but it just wasn't gonna work. So who knows. Whenever & whereever, it will be fun.

I believe it was 1974, I jumped in a friends pick-up truck and he tossed me the 8-track of A White Sports Coat and a Pink Crustacean to stick in the tape player. I was instantly hooked and have been listening ever since.

This is also the same friend who turned me onto Jerry Jeff Walker, so unknown to him (we have lost touch over the past 20+ yrs) he had a great influence in my musical tastes!

I don't know if I can really pin it down... probably when I was a kid, I'd listen to my dad's cassettes, which included a lot of JB music...

With all the injuries I've had from playing sports, my body's been creaking since before Cory was born.

I don't remember the exact year but it was some time in the late 80's. My brother had SYKBH and LMIP on cassette and I "stole" them from him. That was my introduction but I had to wait until 96 at, then, Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre to see him live. My brother is now jealous of me as I will be going to my 3rd show in Vegas and he has only been to 1, 04 at the Pepsi Center, which was my b'day present to him.

I grew up spending weekends on cape cod with a pretty large family. The music was always tropical on the back deck, Anything from Buffett - Marley and everything in between. Heck we even had a fake wedding between 2 of our friends where WDWGDAS was there wedding song...lol

I started listening to more and more buffett as time went on. Sure i was a phan for a few years, but it took a couple years for me to really get what it was all about. Once i did, i went out and immediately bought the BBB&B and haven't looked back......as a matter of fact the passion has only grown....

Several years ago i went through a pretty difficult time.......I listened to CILCIA probably a million times, but all of the sudden it hit me....Yesterdays over my shoulder, so i can't look backwards too long"...that definetly helped me through it.....SO now, i'm engaged and am probably one of the luckiest guys I know (getting married in december) . She doesn't like buffett at all, however she did go to her first show with me this year and said "i'll go back next year". She loved the scene, and loved being there with me, thats all i could ever ask for (and 2 buffett songs played at the reception :D )

....an addendum

I knew I had infected my whole office when one of my employees gave me notepads one year that had been printed with:

"From the Leslie Lattitude" :o
(appropriately adorned with palm trees)

I still consider it one of my "Motto's"...especially when my DH says he doesn't understand me...

He's just not in the "Leslie Lattitude"
