Things to do or go in Knoxville

Post by Anon The Pirate »

Will be going to the Tenn-Bama football game this year and have never been to Knoxville. What places are good to go to for a few drinks, a meal, local scenery around the campus or downtown. Thanks

The ultimate hole in the wall bar, but it won't be crowded with a bunch of 18 year olds.

STAY IN THE CAR.
DONT TOUCH ANYTHING.
DONT DRINK THE WATER.

IF YOU RUN INTO A LOCAL OR UT PHAN-SPEAK SLOWLY. DO NOT USE BIG WORDS. NEVER OFFER THEM FIREWATER.

REMEMBER-BECAUSE BIG ORANGE PHANS s***, GRAVITY INCREASES THERE DURING A FOOTBALL GAME. BE CAREFUL JUMPING UP TOO FAST WHEN BAMA SCORES. A LOT.

Find out where Tall Paul and/or Matt Hall are playing that weekend. Fantastic artists, Buffett-friendly music. Ask Tall Paul to play "Werewolves of London" .....we always do !!!

And yeah, BobRoberts is from Knoxville, he knows all the stuff.

Must go down by the river and check out the Vol Navy!! I would imagine they'll start coming in Friday night so it may be worth it to see if you can make some phriends over there. Cumberland Ave. is just like any other college town main drag so if you're just into the pubs you can go there but we found the riverfront area much better!! 8) Check out the Tennessee Theatre and see if anyone cool is playing. Johnny Winter played while we were there.

Hey Anon! Great to hear you're comming in for the big game! You'll be in awe of Neyland! I just hope we both have somewhat successful seasons this year and the game is a big one. Do you have tickets yet? Know what section? I'm an usher now at the games so I can help you with any questions about the stadium as well.

As far as Knoxville goes.....man!...where do I start? What kind of things specifically are you wanting to experience? What do you like to eat? Are you gonna tailgate before the game? When are you comming in? Do you have a hotel booked yet? How long are you gonna be here? Give me a few specifics and I'll try to give you some suggestions.

Every time we are there for the florida game and go to O'Charley's on cumberland ave. we run into people we knew in college and in many cases haven't seen since — I've been done for 6 years, he's been done for 16.

Bob Roberts - we're headed down in two weeks and ticket shopping now – I can't find a map showing how the seats are actually numbered ... as in what numbers start at the aisle? We'd rather spend a bit more $$ to not have to step over 20 people on the way out. Any suggestions? (don't worry, you can be nice to me — you should want us to go to the game – we're 0 and 5 in knoxville, so you're safe to win as long as we are there)

Unfortunatley, O'Charley's on The Stip closed a few months ago. There are still plenty of places to party before and after the game on Cumberland. Here is a link to the stadium map........

I don't know of a map to show seat #s. All sections can be different, so its hard to tell sometimes. Any seat #1 will be on an aisle. Usually each row runs about 34 seats, but that is not the case in every section. Sorry I can't help more with that. If you're wanting to sit with other Florida fans, the seating has changed some since you were in K-town last. Here are the likely FL sections:
A
AA
Z15
Z16
GG
HH
II
JJ maybe
There may be more, but I'm not completely sure.

ONLY IF YOU LIKE COUNTRY MUSIC! I do, and I like Cock-Eyed Hoes from time to time, but you'd hate it if you don't like rednecks and country music at all. Cumberland Avenue (aka "The Strip") will be rocking all night long and is a great place for bar-hopping.

-Calhoun's on the river , awesome place with micro brewed beer , try the amber !!

-Check out the Vol navy

-Sit on "the hill" before the game and listen and the watch pre-game radio broadcast

-Watch "the vol walk" , band cheerleaders smokey and football team all blaze down toward the stadium

All good stuff to see , i would also suggest the Scottish Rights temple for breakfast
