The Show has Begun

Post by ph4ever »

It all started quite simply - the desire to enlarge our family. For quite some time we felt Bailey needed a little sister and a kitten was in needed in order to make our family complete.

I had been searching thru petfinder.com which is really a great resource for finding not only pets but rescue groups and shelters in your area.

I found some polydachtol kittens through a rescue group on petfinder that I was interested in but alas they had been taken. For years now I've been wanting a polydachtol but I had decided that there were so many homeless kittens that need a home so I'd just go to the King County Shelter and get a cat there. We printed the online application and filled it out. On the way we stopped at KMart and picked up some kitten essentials. Then we went to Caveman Barbeque. When we got to the shelter and went into the cat room there was quite an assortment of cats. I made a quick glance thru and every kitten that caught my eye was a male. I have a bad history with male cats and don't want a male. On my second pass thru to take a closer look into the cages this paw reaches out to me. I stick my finger up and it grabs my fingers and then :o I notice it's paw!!! I quickly look at the kitty's card - IT'S A FEMALE!!! I look into the kitty's eyes and head towards the front.

Later we leave the shelter with our kitty in a cardboard cat carrier. Introductions are in order at home. Bailey - our dog was excited when we got home but whatever was in the box intrigued her more. When I brought the kitty out all hell broke loose!!  I've got numerous scratches (Bailey got none) the kitten ran up the bamboo curtain. She's now in the laundry room hunkered down until Bailey goes outside. Then we bring her out and love her and play with her. She needs a bath. The next few days should be interesting.

no not yet. I think she'll be in the laundry room for a while. She was also picked up as a stray and just put out in the adoption room today. So she's probably been thru quite a bit. We're going to let her get adjusted and then see whwat her personality is before we name her.

for right now I'm calling her little sh_t

We got a call from the shelter. They made a mistake. She hasn't been spayed as yet so I get to take her back Tuesday to have that done. I may have her out from behind the hot water heater by then.

At that size, her belly should still be shaved or growing in! (But no, you can't tell on a girl cat.)

Congratulations! Things are getting better with our 4, although my cat did wake up Guinness (whom I thought she made friends with on Thursday night) just so she could hiss at her a few minutes ago.

I like Tide-it fits with the laundry room, and it's tropical too.
