Buffett Country Category

Post by conched »

CMT called Jimmy an Island Crooner--

Jimmy said he was always someone they couldn't put into a category...and then said: "I guess I'm a category now. If you live long enough you become a category."

These are videos I've seen recently that seem to fit Jimmy's category of singers "embracing their inner beachbum."

Pat Green's "Feels Just Like It Should."

http://top40-charts.com/news.php?nid=24124

Capturing the feel good, carefree, rockin' sound of the single, the video exemplifies a perfect summer day. Directed by Trey Fanjoy, the video was shot in League City and Galveston, Texas. Co-written by Green, Brett James and Justin Pollard, 'Feels Just Like It Should' is the first single from Green's upcoming album, Cannonball, on BNA Records in stores August 22.

I see Trey Fanjoy directed Pat's video too. (She directed Bama Breeze, Trip Around the Sun, Five O'Clock Somewhere, Hey Good Lookin.)

"Seashores of Old Mexico" by George Strait (written by Merle Haggard) is another beach escape video. (Link will open video.)

Seashores is also directed by Trey Fanjoy.

Oh, there are so many songs in this category these days...here are a few of my favorites:

"How'd I Wind Up in Jamaica?" - Tracy Byrd (of "Ten Rounds with Jose Cuervo" fame - another "Buffett country" song; the live version ends with the opening riff from Margaritaville)

"Loco" - David Lee Murphy

Any of a whole bunch o' stuff by Kenny Chesney, including "When the Sun Goes Down," "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem," and almost the entire "Be As You Are" album.

John Deere phased out his retrofitted 1060 (on a lawn-mower chassis) model. Seems he was the only farmer with a 12" inseam necessary to operate the pedals..
