We've got a handful... 6 or 7 I'd guess...

This one's my favorite, though, we use it all the time:

I think 40 plus! I love to cook, but especially ethnic cuisines from all over the world, and some of my books I have brought home from my travels. We each have our mom's best recipes bound into books, too. I often keep a large cookbook open on an easel in my kitchen for the photographic art impact alone, regardless of whether I have ever made the dish in the picture. Food stylists and photographers do great work!

I hit the over 50 category in my 20's. I collect them. I could never bear to part with any of them. I cook out of ... maybe 5 .... but I've read every one of them, cover to cover.

My mother collects them, too. And uses every one.

One of my most precious cookbooks (dear, not cute) is the original Helen Corbitt one. It has sooo many recipes that have become part of our family traditions (cornbread - poppy seed dressing - popovers - strawberry butter, to name a few). The book is hard to find ... my mom won't part with hers. Mine was falling apart . . . but Mom found one in pretty good shape at the Salvation Army. For $2.00. I woulda paid $200.

. .I know I have . . conservatively over 200 . .! ! . .boxes of them . .! !

. .I love to go to Thrift Stores and buy the Church ones . . or Jr. League . .etc. . great recipes . . ! ! . .and most of them come with their personal hand written cards and newspaper clip-outs. . you know what I mean . . ! !

. .and especially the Church ones from far away . . .

. .I buy them just to read . . ( my cooking days are pretty much over . .) . .

. .many of mine are pre-40's. . I even have the Betty Crocker one before it was in a binder style . .

. .and of course I have all of my Mom's . .and her written out box of index cards. . .

. .soooo special . . .! !

. .I'd have to go back and look to see my oldest . .but I bet if was from the 20's. . ! !

. .oooo . .don't get me started on this . . I could talk all day . . ! !

. .also one of my favorites I received from my Santa ( Ragtop W ) last year for Christmas . . Idaho's Famous Potato Recipes from the Jr. League of Boise . . ! ! . .with a real burlap cover . .! !

We're in the over 40 crowd.... and now Mrs. TR uses The Food Network web site too! All the Grandma's box of recipies are the best though. Something really calming to walk in the kitchen and find your honey making a family favorite and Grandma's writing is right there on the counter. What a flood of great memories

BG: Church ones are my favorites! You *know* everyone of the recipes has been tested in someone's kitchen and you *know* every one of them is *someone's* favorite!

I'm a sucker for the ones like ours...that are done for charities. The ground rules are the same as the church ones.

I don't know who to leave them to in my will. My son has recently expressed interest in cooking, so maybe he'll take them. I would hate for them to go into a garage sale.

. .and let's not forget the Cooking for Two and Joys of Jello I received when I married in 1966 . .! !

1 ...the BN cookbook........but i do have a quite a few takeout menus!!

MY oldest one is THE WHITE HOUSE COOKBOOK ... 1887.
