In case you dont know, DCI finals will be aired tonight on ESPN2 at 8 pm (EST)

IF they show anything of Madison Scouts, one of my students is center snare there. Check em out!

(and a smart bet with your friends who are clueless is to put ALL your money on the Cavaliers to win :P )

yah I think my student MAY go to Cavs for the next two years (till age out) but things are still up in the air. I think all shows this year were pretty amazing. If you've never seen drum corps (or even in the last 5 years) you need to see this!!!

I'm watching!

A-m-a-z-i-n-g.

Speaking as a former band member/majorette/drum major, these guys and gals are impressive.

Wow!

Yes, Terry, That they are. 8) I as in a small one when I was 14-15 back in IL. "Men Of Brass". Hardest work I've ever done.

There's a competition in Denver every year called "Drums Along The Rockies". In 30 years, I've missed 3.

When I lived in IL I followed the Cavaliers and still do to this day. 8)

Drum Corps has gotten a little too foo foo with the dance numbers over the years, but I'll still go every year. Love those drums and horns. :D

Queenie: Your guys wer on earlier. Amazing.

I don't like the foo-foo modern jazz dance stuff, either. But the rest of it is incredible!

They are sooo far beyond what we did in high school and college. I can't even call what we did marching after watching these guys!

When is the Denver championship? I might come out to watch! :D

Terry? Those were the prelim rounds.. this is the actual finals. :)

Corps folks get testy if you call these groups 'bands'. ;)

And the one in Denver (Drums Along The Rockies) is just one of many competitions throughout the summer leading to the World Finals tonight. City for that changes every year. :)

2 years ago Denver hosted the Finals. Talk about awesome!! 8)

Oh, and D.A.T.R. is usually in July. :)

Are you watching? Man, this kid's story is amazing. Macular degeneration and he's still playing quads and marching.

This Corps is wonderful sounding.. but the 'story' and foo foo stuff is awful. They were in Denver last year and this year. Ick.

IMHO - it's even worse in person. Just too sloppy. And there should be no singing in Drum Corps!! It soooo takes away from the music.

The commentators were just saying the same thing. Way too many distractions. Loved the sound. Just closed my eyes and listened.

Queenie: The Phantom Regiment are really good, right? I've heard of them.

Man...their director just said, "You take the ghosts of 50 years out there with you."

Wow!

Thank goodness they agreed. The crowd in Denver was less than enthusiastic after their performance. Too busy.

I like the Vanguard tonight.

I didn't care for the dancing, but the rest of the Phantom Regiment was out of this world.

My friend Katie ... the opera singer ... is dating someone who aged out this year. He was in a corps from Ohio. Percussion. She shared some amazing stories with me on the trip. I sure want to go to San Antonion next year for the regionals!

The Vanguard used to do an amazing "Bottle Dance" for a few years. Crowds went wild. 8)

The sound on TV soooo doesn't do it justice. :(
