What isn't there to see and do here.
If you came for a visit here I'd recommend staying at the Drake Hotel.
Magnificent mile...aka shopping!!!
Museums:
Art Institute of Chicago
Museum of Science and Industry - my favorite
Shedd Aquarium
Field Museum
Sears Tower Skydeck
There's the riverboat tour
Navy Pier always has something going on.
House of Blues
My FAVORITE getaway spot is Galena, Ill.
For a more layed back atmosphere and antique shopping I recommend this trip. The place to stay would be Eagle Ridge Resort and spa. It's got great golf courses, the grounds and the scenery are beautiful..... http://www.eagleridgeresortonline.com/

Here are some thoughts about what's going on in southern Maine:
Old Orchard Beach, Maine(in the summer):
Let's see, after enjoying a day in the sun on our 7 miles of beaches,
you can head over to the Oceanside Grill for some beachfront drinks
and music. Stop by Lisa's Pizza for their Pier Fries(extra-crispy) and
then go to the Pier for some tacky fun and music.
Nearby in southern Maine/Coastal New Hampshire:
Lobster & Steamers from too many restaurants to mention.
The Old Port section of town in Portland for entertainment,
restaurants, shopping and cruises. Portland has a freshly
crowned championship Red Sox farm team, The Portland Sea Dogs,
playing in Hadlock Field. Portland also has the Anaheim Ducks AHL
farm team, the Portland Pirates, during the Fall and Winter at the
Civic Center. The Portland Head Light is a famous lighthouse and
well-photographed.
Kennebunkport has quaint shops, good restaurants and homes with classic New England architecture
Wells: Nice beach with a jetty to watch boats come in and out.
Antique shops galore, The Lighthouse Depot for those of you who
can't have enough lighthouse collectibles, some nice restaurants
and homemade ice cream at Big Daddy's.
Ogunquit has Perkins Cove for restaurants and shopping. The Marginal
Way seaside walking path runs about a mile along the rocks between
Perkins Cove and Ogunquit Beach. Very romantic and relaxing. Enjoy
a Broadway style play at one of the oldest summer theaters: The
Ogunquit Playhouse.
York Beach: The Nubble Lighthouse(one of the most photographed
lighthouses in Maine), Goldenrod Taffy and Long and Short Sands
beaches. Stop by the original Flo's on Rt 1 for their special sauce
hot dogs. Brown's homemade ice cream near the Nubble Lighthouse
is a great summer treat.
Portsmouth, NH: The deck bars along the waterfront are great for
food, drinks and people watching. Lots of history(Strawberry Banke
museum), architecture and cool shops. Take a reggae cruise(or the
annual July Club Finz Parrothead Cruise) on the Thomas Leighton Steamship.
