I enjoyed the Schott more than Indy most times, but definitely Jones Beach more than either of those, and Tampa was by far the worst venue I've ever been to (partly because of bad seats, but mostly because the crowd where we were SUCKED!!- it was so bad we moved to the section behind the stage so no one would care whether we were standing), but Vegas is always great. I think it just depends on the intended use for the venue and how well executed it is.
Good grief - you must have been in our section - people actually kept tugging on my husband's shirt to sit down whenever it wasn't a SYKBH. ergh-

They were complaining
during SYKBH!!

This was at Tampa? Last year? 2005?
I had a ball! I sat on the lawn with BEG, Dally, Phins1026.HSVParrothead...Kev's girlfriend ..and I just had a total senior moment.....Some other people..how's that?
Walked the lot with Lynn all day...Met all kinds of people....Laughed and laughed...Had a great time...Course the lawn was pretty wet by the time all the encores rolled around..and you could hardly hear it...but like I said...I had a great time with the people I was
with!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but I really couldn't remember if it was the American Airlines arena in Orlando and the newspaper in Tampa or vice versa.

I prefer to be outdoors aa much as possible, especially for concerts, like the Stone at Giant Stadium next week
Although the MSG show was stunning, I think the whole experience (being my first) would have been better if it were outdoors and included a tailgate with you folks!

Well the way my luck is going with weather at concerts lately I should say indoors.
I really like the outdoor events, but I had fun at the Palace when Jimmy was there. We were kinda behind stage and it was soo cool to watch everything being set up and I was a lot closer than I have ever been outdoors....
I really don't care! If he plays I will be there!

My 2cents worth is that, like Coconuts said, it depends on
the venue, but also your seat "neighbors". I was fortunate to
be front row for the 3 Great Woods shows 10 years ago and
had a blast, but other seat locations had people tugging on
my shirt to sit. On the flip side, when I sat behind the stage indoors
in Ft Lauderdale and Mohegan, I had a blast because everyone
was standing and dancing. I know it's not likely for me to be
close to the stage anymore so I am happy to find an open
spot on the outdoor lawns so I can dance and sing along as I
wish without bothering anyone. Whether it's inside or outside,
you just hope for great neighbors otherwise it can put a damper
on your whole experience.

Since indoor venues generally don't have lawns, I'd have to cast my vote for outdoor.

we saw him in columbus, ohio a few years back at the schottenstein and it was not the same at all as being outside
but it was not a bad show in the Schott either. He did work the room, and the chance for the folks behind the stage to see him close up on the Porch of Indecision was good.

But am grateful for indoors when the weather is bad.
I think you got it exactly right, SMLCHNG!
Either way, indoor or outdoor, having a fun tailgate or even bar-hop before is part of the fun, and in some places that just becomes tricky.
I thought the show itself at MSG was great great great, but would have liked more people to be attired in their best coconut bras and grass skirt ensembles, as well as the cheesy obnoxious t-shirts. Those are just fun.

Up until MSG last week, my JB experiences have always been outdoors. Great Woods (mostly), The Meadows (years ago) and Fenway. Up until Fenway, my experience was always tailgating in a parking lot. I didn't know what "bar tailgating" would be like. It was a blast - all because of the like minded people who are pre-partying.
With MSG, I again was wondering what pre-partying in NYC would be like with the hustle and bustle of the Manhattan business crowd. Due to the weather and the drive down from Mass. we didn't make it in time to head uptown to Mo's prior to the show. We ended up at TGIF's just outside of the Garden. It was obviously a Buffett crowd, but there was no Buffett playing on the sound system. Kind of strange - but the crowd was into it.
As others have said, if you're in the right atmosphere and the spirit of Buffett, it doesn't matter if you're indoors or outdoors.
HOWEVER, that being said - OUTDOORS hands down. There's something about soaking up the sun, the stars, the drunkenness - outdoors.

Did they ever change the sign? It's hard to believe they can spell both his first and last name wrong.

OMG Betty, I hadn't even noticed. I may have been a little tipsy heading in. Did I talk to you at all?
Actually I just looked at your pictures and it looks like we may have stayed at the same hotel?? Comfort Inn on 36th? If that is you, I believe my friend and I may have been getting off the elevator and you and your friend (boyfriend, husband??) may have been getting on? I said "I know where you guys are going". Was that you? (If not, just proof I was tipsy - LOL)

WOW, that is hysterical, I was also at TGIFridays, but I didn't even notice. They did have some Jimmy playing here and there, when you could hear it, man was it loud and crowded in there. Oh well at least it was somewhere to drink, even though 5 rum drinks will set you back $45, ouch.
