Bob Seger

Post by MonumentBeach »

Anybody pick up his new album yet? His single, "Wait for Me" has been getting plenty of airtime around here and has really grown on me.

Rumors of his tour continue to grow as well. Sounds like he's going to hit the road this winter. I'd definitely go check him out.

I would love to see him in concert again. I was a little distracted this weekend, so it looks like a trip to BestBuy after work tomorrow night to pick it up

I picked up the one with the DVD, but haven't opened it yet.

It's supposed to be a gift for my husband.

Picked it up Sunday.......played it through once so far.......Starts out rockin for the first 6-7 cuts, mellows a bit at the end. Was doing some work around the house while it was playing so didn't give it my undivided attention but as I say, the beginning of the CD sounded promising! 8)

Yes, kinda like that Heineken? commercial a while ago, where the gift starts out as a 12 pack and ends up as an 11/10 pack.

face the Promise

I have the new CD, Face the Promise, and I must say that I am giving it a lot of playtime. If you are a Seger fan it will not disappoint. It certainly follows his longtime music tradition. His voice, sure doesnt show his age. May not be his best work, but it certainly isn't slapped together just to make a few bucks CD. Played the CD at our block party and everyone enjoyed it. My favorite song is "Wreck this Heart" and "Real Mean Bottle" a duet with Kid Rock, makes even the laziest person get up and boogie!

Can't go wrong this this one! Try it you'll like it!

when he sang at the Rock Hall induction ceremony a couple years back, it wasn't the power it was when he was touring. Don't know if that is because he wasn't using it, or the vocal cords were shot, or what, but he did not sound as good as he usually did singing.

The word has been that he spent the time while working on this album also getting his voice back in shape so he could tour to support it. No announced tour dates, but it was supposed to be this fall and winter.

I was disappointed in the new CD. There is only 3 or 4 songs that I like. It doesn't really stand out as a Bob Seger album. I wouldn't say his voice is shot, it just doesn't have the unique qualities it once had. I would like to see him in concert, however, just to hear the oldies.

his last tour was 2 and a half hours of mostly his old stuff, deep cuts off the previous album (Fire Inside) that he hadn't toured to cover, and just a couple off his then-new album. He did put on a show. :)

Detroit would be incredible, CMH would be great... Seeing Bob in FL probably isn't quite the same thing as seeing Jimmy there. :D

Seger told the Free Press that the Palace of Auburn Hills and Joe Louis Arena would each get shows in early December, toward the end of a national itinerary that would start in late October at Grand Rapids' Van Andel Arena.
Last time around in 1996 I believe he played six shows at the Palace.

If Grand Rapids becomes a reality, Van Andel is a great place for a concert. Small arena right in the heart of downtown, seating on three sides with the stage against the wall w/o seats. And of course, the bathrooms have really nice soap.
