Can you purchase one and just use it? Does it need to connect with your old fob to program it? Help. I have a bit of a problem here.

There are usually instructions on how to program or "train" the fobs with it. Usually it involves pressing buttons while you activate the original fob. I'm assuming this is for your car?

nah i'm looking ot engage in a bit of GTA.
Actually the problem is bad. I have a mustang which I bought from ebay. It had one small problem. The only way to get into the car is the keyfob. You can't unlock the doors with the keys. It is also alarmed like fort knox and this alarm sets automatically.
I have now accidently locked the keys, the fob, my purse, my money, my cell phone, my school books into my car. Due to a minor bit of stupidity a week ago I have no spare fob. I don't know how to get one and I don't know how things like this work. I don't know if getting a fob would get me into the car without having the other fob. The fob is sitting on the seat of the car. Could I do this thru the window?

Does Ford have something along the lines of GM's OnStar system where they can remotely unlock your vehicle? If so, even if the car wasn't purchased through a Ford dealer you can have the service activated and use it.
Otherwise I would think you would have to go to a dealer and have them order you a new fob. They have to be able to pre-program the things without an existing one. I know that GM can order new keys with the PassKey chip in them without having to keep a copy of the old key.

the alarm isn't original to the car and no on-star. Can a locksmith get into the car like this? What about AAA? Apparently something isn't connected which is why I can't open it with the keys. If i can get the trunk open you can fold the seat down and climb in that way.

I just called the local car audio store and they said they need the car there to program the key fob. That's no help is it?

I think you either need the car (unlocked) or the existing fob.

Yikes! You might try contacting the previous owner and finding out what brand the fob/alarm system is. The fob/alarm system manufacturer may be able to give you a code to program a new fob, given your current situation. I can't make any guarantees on this, but it's worth a shot...GOOD LUCK!

have a locksmith open it up, either through the door or trunk. you may well trigger the alarm, but once it's open you can get your keys and shut the alarm off.

Do you or anyone you know belong to AAA? If so, they'll come out and open it up for free.

Aluminum baseball bat to front left side window and now you have fob...
Your local dealer should be able to program it, if you could get them there.
