Steve Irwin's Last Good-bye

A DEVASTATED Terri Irwin has revealed the loving goodbye she and husband Steve shared the last time they parted.

The Crocodile Hunter kissed his wife and told her he loved her as Terri and their children Bindi and Robert boarded a plane to Tasmania shortly before his death.

"I went to get on the plane and he grabbed me a second time and gave me a kiss," Terri told Ray Martin in an interview aired on Channel 9 tonight.

"He just embraced me and said 'I love you'. He drove his truck down the runway . . . and stood on top of (it) larger than life, with his arms in the air he waved goodbye.

"It was wonderful and Bindi said, 'That's how I'll always remember him standing on that truck'.

Some people say you don't know what you got till you lose it.

They knew.

something to ponder ...
maybe a good thing to never part without telling the ones you love
that you do so..

I don't watch a whole lot of TV, and never watched his show.

However, this interview was *so* tastefully done. While of course very sad, it was also very uplifting and hopeful. I had no idea Steve and Terri had such a wonderful, special relationship.

I don't usually give kudos to the media, but in this case Barbara Walters deserves it. A very tasteful, wonderful tribute to a guy very passionate about his family and his animals.

kleenex please. I watched CH in the early days - from the beginning you could always tell they had a very special, connected relationship. Daughter's memorial speech was also moving and so positive. WOW - what a loss of a great guy.

Yes, even the tough cookie Barbara Walters started to cry. Terri was so
very composed and expressed her strong emotions with great respect.

What a wonderful relationship. "I lost my prince," she said.

Also, it renewed my passion for all animals and wildlife preservation.
I felt glad that we had the bats humanely removed from our attic!

You know, if he had died at the teeth of a crocodile, it would have been
horribly tragic. He'd have lost all the ground he'd covered in getting
people to respect and preserve this species.

Now if we can only get China to respect and preserve its tigers!!!

I only caught the tail end of the Barbara
Walters interview, but I really was touched
when Teri was asked what she will miss the
most about Steve. she said how much
fun it was to be with him and that he wasn't
afraid about getting muddy playing in the rain
and never sweated the small stuff. It was
obvious what a special relationship they had--
one that I hope to experience before it's my
time to go to the beach in the sky...

I cried through the whole interview.

They seem to have shared more love between them than most of the world will ever get to experience. What a gift she'll be able to cherish throughout the rest of her life.
