So were a lot of the Democrats, but the election was too far off to bring it to light.
But don't worry-Foley's a Republican, therefore he'll be held accountable.
Talk about your hypocrisy!

really? how? he's not running for office. He's hiding out in rehab. He had family money from what I understand, so how accountable is he?
Having family money is the only way into rehab these days. Now, if Foley does get clean and sober, then he should learn to take responsibility for his actions. But with the attitude I have seen, I would rate the chances of that happening as pretty slim.

When I have been out that way, I have seen campaign signs, and I think I have seen some ads running even though I am in the north suburbs.

Lawyer Says Foley Was Molested As a Teen
Oct 03 6:21 PM US/Eastern

Former Rep. Mark Foley's attorney said Tuesday that his client was molested between the ages 13 and 15 by a clergyman.
Foley had represented the West Palm Beach district for 12 years and was seeking re-election until his sudden resignation last week after the disclosure of lurid online communications with teenage congressional pages.

"This is part of his recovery," Roth said, declining to identify the clergyman or the church.

Roth also announced for the first time that Foley is gay.

He insisted Foley never had sexual contact with a minor.

New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote
October 03, 2006 1:22 PM

Brian Ross and Maddy Sauer Report:

Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.

ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18.

This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp.

The House voted that evening on HR 1559, Emergency War Time supplemental appropriations.

According to another message, Foley also invites the teen and a friend to come to his house near Capitol Hill so they can drink alcohol.

Teen: are you going to be in town over the veterans day weekend
Maf54: I may be now that your coming
Maf54: who you coming to visit
Teen: haha good stuff
Teen: umm no one really

Maf54: we will be adjourned ny then

my last thought for the evening... why can't suicidal maniacs take out their revenge on disgusting, lying politicians like Foley instead of innocent children while attending school... just a thought....

Seems the congressional leadership -- who conducted their investigation into this a year ago, but had no knowledge of the internet messages -- should hire ABC News.... :-?

Both the St. Petersburg and Miami papers had sizeable parts of the story and sat on it for months too..

but my personal favourite revelation of all this is not that he is gay, not that he supposedly has a drinking problem, it's that he's now claiming he was molested by a priest...

Mark.. just take your beating like a man. Accept that you hosed yourself, make a statement not written and vetted by your attorney first, and then just walk out into the crab beds off West Palm Beach with three weight belts on.

yep... says something when your government gerrymanders their districts for 70%+ wins, and still hides behind concrete barriers.
